Need I say more? Cheesy Potato with ham bits to warm up your stomach. The cheese looks like nacho cheese but it isn't, it's slightly thicker and tastes sharper. They have a choice of different cheeses and toppings so take your pick! I love how they scrape the potato off the skin and mash it so it's easier for you to eat but still neat as the skin contains it

When we first saw this dish, it was at Jiu Fen. Apparently there are different variations, the one at Jiu Fen is without the vegetables and instead of peanut shavings it's peanut crumbs. At Danshui and some night markets though, the peanut bits are shaved off from a block of glazed peanuts and it comes with the parsley! The outside is popiah skin by the way. It is so so good, a must try!

We were actually more on the hunt for savoury food when we were stopped by this friendly uncle selling ice cream who plied us with different flavours. But I'm thankful he did, the milk and pineapple flavours are especially good, must try! I like this night market because it's not that well known and there are quite a few things I didn't see at other night markets (like this) Also he was super generous with the serving we were so full

Also in Hua Yin Street (not sure if they have other outlets) there was a snaking queue for this. It's actually called Kari Donut and it's quite famous so if you google it you should see where to go! :) In Taipei, as long as there is a queue you know you've struck food gold. Applied this principle every time and it never went wrong. They have other interesting flavours but the original is the one they're famous for. Move over Krispy Kremes, Kari's dough was just the right texture of chewy, with a lightly battered exterior that had a generous dusting of sugar crystals. Was so tempted to get myself another... Dozen or so 😂

I'm not sure of the name of the shop but it's right beside Star Hostel. There was no queue but the pepper biscuits sell out super fast so be prepared to wait for a fresh new batch (which is better anyway) I really loved the pastry, crumbly and slightly sweet with just the right tinge of pepper, however for the filling I felt there was too much vegetables that it overwhelmed the meat!

In a city that is famous for bubble tea, I had to try this!! Their Oreo is the signature but when I saw the bubble tea flavour I knew what I wanted. It's around 240NTD ($10SGD) but there was a discount of 50% as long as you shared a specific post on their Facebook so scoreeeee. The pancakes are super soft, felt more like cake actually! If you come to Taiwan and are planning to cafe hop, don't miss out on this cafe :) Oh and the teas are very prettily laid out, be sure to get one!

"Friends who have known me for a long time would know about my rather strict mother. Because of my curfew, a trip down to Seng Kee would a very rare occurrence for me. Those trips could only happen if my club's basketball training would end earlier (which really happened once in a blue blue moon), where my teammates and I would troop down to the outlet along Changi Road for some team bonding over Mee Sua.
I can still vividly remember having my first bowl. One sip of the rich flavourful herbal soup, and I was sold!! Grabbing my chopstick and ignoring how hot the soup was, I tucked in steadily. The mee sua and the fresh pork meat and organs were all on point. The table would be oddly quiet while we wolfed down everything greedily as we were too hungry after training.
However, I returned a few times occasionally to and realised a sharp drop in standard. Till recently, I found that they had another branch at Kaki Bukit Food Market, where the taste and everything was just as I remembered it to be 5 years back! Having a bowl of it now still reminds me of all the post-training bonding session I used to have with my teammates. #hawkerpedia"

Formerly known as Benjamin Browns, newly-revamped bistro concept The Benjamins makes a splashy (re)entrance with the launch of their Over The Top Shakes ($16) — absolutely massive milkshakes topped with everything from the kitchen sink to your mother. Current flavours include Caramel Crunch, Nutella Banana and Tim Tams, but we say go for the creamy and fragrant Coffee Avocado, which is probably the most restrained of the bunch!

Soybean flour flavored Patbingsoo so I can trick myself into thinking I'm eating something healthy. It's $12.90 for the big bowl and $4.90 for the one person's serving. But I figure go big or go home, besides the bigger bowl comes with a small jug of milk you can drizzle over. The mochi bits add a wonderful chewy texture and the ice is like fine milky snow. Definitely not glorified ice kachang!

It's truffled rice with angus short rib beef, need I say more? Yolk was done to a perfect degree and I love how the truffle gave the rice that earthy flavour. And they have special lunch set offers (including weekends) so the dons can go as cheap as $12.

This is sneakily hidden in the top floor food court at Square 2. I love love love their cod fish! The sashimi is also very fresh and well cut (the chef is an authentic Japanese chef) and the prices are pretty reasonable. They also have Wagyu Beef.

The Chirashi Don set ($18.80) comes with salad, miso soup, chawanmushi (which was a little lackluster) mochi dessert, and green tea. This set is extremely value for money, considering how generous they are with the sashimi cubes. The avocado to sashimi ratio was just right and didn't leave me feeling imbalanced or unsatisfied. I'd definitely come back just for this again, one of my favourite Chirashi dons!
