Stir-fried Squid with Runny Salted Egg ($14.80) - to me everything salted egg automatically tastes better, and this was done to perfection. Everyone couldn't stop going back for more servings of this, even when we were stuffed! The salted egg sauce wasn't too gelat, the perfect savory umami balance and the squid was just the right texture.

Gai Tod Had Yai ($7.80) - all the goodness of deep fried chicken without the troublesome bones! The chili was super addictive, and I can definitely see this as a bar snack. I do wish it was slightly crispier though.

At $19, Babette's Chirashi Don is pretty worth it (it comes with miso soup too) I would have preferred slightly less vegetables and more sashimi but that's probablg because I'm a carnivore. Their honey yuzu ice blended ($7) is also very refreshing 👍🏻

This dish is so sinful but so good i don't care. Kurobuta Pork Confit comes sprinkled with sea salt and a highly addictive mango salsa. The skin is crackling and crisp (I'm salivating just writing about it) and the knife sinks easily into the confit, which is melt in your mouth. And the tastes are all tied in with the mango salsa, which is acidic and sour and somehow works so well with the pork.

We requested for more Thai chili sauce to pour all over the pulled duck, because it was that yummy. The charcoal bun tied everything together nicely, though I'm not sure whether the edges were a little too well done for my taste! Pulled duck was done perfectly. Fries were average.

Crispy chicken wings dipped in Thai Chilli sauce that has over 9 spices inside, this would be great as beer food. The sauce is so addictive, and the chicken skin is not too floury or soggy from the sauce.

Not-A-Ramlee Burger was so good that even though I was stuffed I still devoured my portion. Consisting of sliced Yorkshire pork with overeasy egg, this burger's ingredients just kept scoring. The homemade bun was soft and crispy at the edges just the way I like it. My only complaint is that the overeasy egg wasn't as runny as I would have liked. Pork was tender and succulent. Definitely worth a try! (Psst there's currently a 1 for 1 POSB food promo)

Sprucing up the dining scene in the Buona Vista area is Paddy Hills, a beautiful space that should be high up on your list of places to visit. The menu is diverse and refreshing, with a fusion of several cuisines. A feast for the eyes, the Berry Ricotta Hotcake ($19) is served with mascarpone, blueberry sugar and fresh berries, inspired by Melbourne's Top Paddock. A crisp exterior gives in to a fluffy interior tinged with maple syrup — a must-order dish that tastes a lot more cake-like than the usual hotcakes. The Japanese-inspired Squid Ink Tagliatalle ($23) features tobiko, ikura, mentaiko, puffed rice, and seared scallops. Also order the Cauliflower Fritters ($12) served with masala yogurt, and the Toasted Spicy Rice Cakes ($15) with gochujang mayo to snack on. Besides the usual coffee and tea, they have cocktails, ciders and wines as well.

I would bottle up the curry sauce they used for the crab if I could. It's that good. The best way to describe it would be as a mix of salted egg sauce and chilli crab sauce and it's thick, satisfactory and addictive. The Tomyum soup was also decent (didn't have one bad bowl while in Thailand). Plus, the whole meal was crazy cheap, despite the fact we had crab we only paid around $10 per person (we had 4 people). This place is popular among locals too, so there'll be a queue but it moves pretty fast so no worries.

While the name of the cafe is polite, you'll be anything but after trying their shibuya toast! With generous servings of strawberry and banana and honey to drizzle over, it's super good. Their drinks were average, so I'd pass on that and go straight for the dessert! We also had the ferrero rocher Mille crepe, which I liked but my friends felt was too sweet.
