For (self-proclaimed) bread connoisseurs like me, you really do not leave panamericana without an order of the sourdough, freshly baked and utterly satisfying. Then besides that, we continued our meal here with fun classic starters like Patatas Bravas and Charred Cauliflower Florets. The patatas bravas here are crispy potato chunks with a delicious aioli sauce and the cauliflower comes with a complementing purée and salsa.
For the mains both the well marinated and succulent Colombian chicken as well as the wood-fired chopped lamb were crowd pleasers.
The space is a 10/10 recommendation for a getaway like celebratory meal. Only caveat I’d recommend driving.

So a colleague quipped that little farms had the best most expensive fish & chips he had of late, so I was intrigued to check it out.
When the plate arrived I was immediately brought back to my time in London because of the mushy peas looking smashed edamame and chunky chips. He was right that the battered locally-caught Barramundi fillet was divine. While $30 for fish & chips is definitely not cheap it is worth ordering again :)
We also shared a salad to balance out the meal which was hearty yet refreshing, adding blueberries to a salad is rare but it surprisingly worked well. You also get half an avocado which I reckoned comes from the grocer so you can help your self to more if you’d like to bring some home.

Burpplebeyond brought me to Lunar Rabbit on a Saturday afternoon and you can be assured you get quality bakes here. The place faces steep completion nonetheless with other neighbouring Boulangerie-cafes. I suggest doing a cafe-hop/ trail along Hamilton road with a group to share the great bakes you can find and decide which is your favourite from each.

After our dinner at SUP on a Saturday evening, Dad declared “we are coming here again when I need a good pasta fix”.
I had no reason to object when 1) south union park’s food is great 2) there’s Burpplebeyond and 3) we stay in the east.
Today we also had the seasonal special of oysters with ponzu sauce, which were slurping good.
Given how the team behind SUP has expanded to sister brands like eleven strands and the new mia, you can trust the guys here have done many things right.

After an almost decade long hiatus from my default carb when I was younger, we randomly stumble upon Gram on a Sunday afternoon for a tea time treat.
I’ve had many pancakes in the past and these are right where good pancakes sit. The normal flat stacks are already great on its own with good complements like fresh cream that we polished.
If you want a higher protein content variant, go for the premium soufflé stack which is interestingly lighter on the palate and delicious.
No wonder these Japanese pancake houses were in vogue when they first arrived on shore our little red dot, Gram has proved their worth.

Feel in love with this place the minute I stepped in, this cafe - boulangerie looked like all the reasons why I wished I was European sometimes 😬
I came in for a light start to the day so I got myself a pain au chocolat and chocolat viennoiserie. Dad and mum had their Asian fill of bryani a few shops down and shared an eclair and waffle ice cream I had the liberty to steal some of.
I’d recommend going for the beautiful eclairs here and I’m looking forward to try the crepes. Ultimately the space itself just had me sold on coming back whenever I have the chance to. Please don’t ever close Maison Kayser at Changi Village.

On a random Saturday evening the family decided to #treatyoselfs with a dinner at the masses. Easily this comes in as one of the better dinners of 2022, the fusion fine dining like dishes here are stellar.
Turning any non-vegetables eaters into converts is this purple cabbage dish topped with scallop meat and ikura, in pool of dashi beurre blanc with dashes of ikura green oil and prawn head butter. Can I hear someone say fancy deliciousness?
And if you’ve not tried charsiew lamb you get to try exactly that here, lamb ribs meat seasoned with the familiar Chinese rub.

Nicely segueing to some show-stopping mains, my heart leaped in joy at the Quail & Foie Gras Pithivier. As if executing flawless puff pastry sheets are not commendable enough you get tender quail meat and the king of indulgence in foie gras; paired with tangy apple balsamico to cut through the richness. I cannot forget this dish.
We also had the Braised Claypot Angus Beef Cheek and Wagyu Tri Tip (160g) for the beef loving males of the family, we all agreed you get a bang for your buck with these dishes.
Because we stuffed ourselves heartily with homemade bread starters and an order of the wok hey rice noodles, there was no space for desserts but i am looking forward to a return visit for part 2 of a great meal.
