Only after working for 3 years around the area we find ourselves having this lip-smacking Filipino pork belly. I guess never too late?
Some might prefer the Chinese crackling skin against the flat crunchy skin of Lechon but the pork meat was absolutely delicious. An order of the Milkfish Sinigang helps balance the meat galore with a tangy stew; also the milkfish is soft but I suggest avoiding the skin that reminds you of the fish’s life form in a stale water body.
One the better end of year meals of 2022 were these lovely sourdough pies from Yeast side.
We first had an oriental and european flavor each in the 1) Viet Ga which replicates Vietnamese Banh Mi with chicken chunks 2) Prosciutto and Arugula - faultless pizza ingredients. The star of the pies here lies in the sourdough crust, light, nothing unctuous yet paradoxically substantial.
I also thought probably sourdough Banh Mi might become a thing with this Viet Ga.
Because our sides of burrata salad, to clock in some greens; tater tots and roasted octopus left us wanting for more, we ended off our meal with a foursome honey, 4 cheese pizza with a drizzle of sweetness :)

Cheers to Burpplebeyond and O’Brew Culture - because of them I get to end 2022 on a pleasantly sweet note with dalgona slowly melting into delicious coffee and Hojicha 🙌🏻
The last bread run of 2022 - and I am so grateful that Gokuku has an outlet in the east because the buns here haven’t failed.
Today I enjoyed a light fresh matcha and white chocolate bun, a denser chewy brown sugar bun and a butter sugar bun with raisins and walnuts. An after thought: Gokuku is great at making classic pairing work don’t they? Matcha and white chocolate, butter and sugar taken up a notch with raisin and walnuts.
Pro tip 1: if you can’t differentiate the flour variants the bakery use, just spot the description chewy if you’d like a dense chewy bun versus regular fresh fluffy buns, both are equally good and depends on the mood of the day.
Pro tip 2: bring your own bag to save the earth and get a 10cent discount 🙃
Right below our “Airbnb” - this instaworthy bar attracts your influencer like crowd, literally 80% of the tables filled in the evening were heavily made up pretty ladies and soms guys haha
That aside a nice spot to get some decent cocktails with a live band.

Special mention to the coffee bun which has the most fragrant and well infused coffee flavoured cap I’ve tasted in any coffee buns. This one give roti papa a huge run for its money and I dare say Lavender fares better IMHO
