A solid spot for wanton noodles.
The star here is the dish itself: springy noodles coated in a rich, savory sauce elevated by a subtly spicy chili that adds depth without overpowering.
The wantons are tender and well-executed, avoiding any rubbery texture.
While the char siew is nothing really special.
We love our hawker food {Part III}. Leng Kee’s fried oyster is a must-order for me whenever I visited Bukit Timah Food Centre. The tradition continues, even after the stall moves to the interim market.
This plate of fried oyster [a.k.a. orh luak] is just plain satisfying. Served with decent-sized oysters 🦪 and combination of crispy eggy bits with soft, gooey texture.

Back at the Interim Bukit Timah Market & Food Centre!
This is the only wet beehoon stall in this market! Got the sotong and clam beehoon ($6.80). It tastes almost like thr white beehoon from the White Restaurant, but this has much more wok hei taste!

I’m no expert in this popular local dessert — cheng tng. Essentially, I will only drink-up the soup and feast on the shaved ice. However, my mum swears by this dessert stall at Bukit Timah Food Centre and has been a staunch fan since the late-Nineties (or so she claims). Typically, we will order a bowl of sweet and refreshing cheng tng from this stall whenever we visit the food centre, without fail. Try it before the stall moves to an interim site 🔜! 🫶🏻

Probably my last chance to visit Bukit Timah Food Centre, during the school holidays before it closes in the second half of 2024.
Decided to go for orh luak, one of my happy 😃 food from this unassuming BBQ chicken wings & satay stall! Not having much expectations, we’re pleasantly surprised that this plate of fried oyster has a balance of crispness from the fried egg and chewiness from the gooey starch, flavourful and boast the elusive ‘wok hei’ [a.k.a. smoky, charred flavour]. 🫶🏻
