Eat @ Malacca

As the name suggests, you've got to finish this puff in one bite to experience the mini explosion in your mouth. Touted to be the best durian puff along Jonker Street, I was completely sold when my friends described how wonderful this puff is. But I guess I had my expectations way too high and ... It wasn't THAT mindblowing. Definitely a decent durian puff, though I felt the skin was way too hard for my liking and the filling lacked bits of durian flesh, which would have upped its awesomeness. I'd think that most durian puffs in Singapore prolly taste better than this.

Hello from work trip! And I guess what characterizes Malacca best is........ CHENDOL! Those who frequent Malacca would know of this famous store along Jonker Street- Jonker 88. The weight and thickness of the Gula Melaka is evident from the way it splits the mountain of ice. The smokiness and fragrance of the gula Melaka is unparalleled, I've tried a few variants from famous Peranakan restaurants and really, nothing comes quite as close to this. The only gripe I have about this dish is its lack of 'liao'. Really, I could do with more Chendol and red bean.

This seemingly humble Coconut Shake store charges GST, which only applies to businesses which revenues exceeds RM500,000/year. I guess they are really THAT famous......... But okay to be fair, the coconut shake here is really not bad, but still can't beat those in BKK.

First work trip and just couldn't resist some really spicy nonya cuisine even though I'm still recovering. The nonya laksa is my favourite type of laksa as it's not too milky and lightly sour (thanks to the sour chilli). And I love the dried mee siam with the sweet and spicy chilli base. I don't know how my stomach is going to tank, but just eat first and worry later!
