Old Airport Road Food Centre

The Fried Hokkien Mee ($6) from Yi Ji Fried Hokkien Prawn Noodle (億記福建炒蝦麵) at Old Airport Road Food Centre (#01-73) may look a little pale but it is actually packed with lots of flavour and fragrance, which is a pleasant surprise! The chilli is super fiery and I made the mistake of mixing too much into the noodles at one go😅 Really glad I got the $6 portion (instead of $4) which came with a generous portion of prawn, squid and pork belly - cleaned my plate in no time!

Note: This stall is a different stall from Yi Ji Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee (義記福建炒蝦麵) at Old Airport Road Food Centre (#01-99) - the stall front and name are really similar (read online that there was some dispute between both owners opps). I have not tried the other stall - hope to try it someday!

I braved a 20min queue for Hua Ji XO Fish Head Bee Hoon at Old Airport Road Food Centre (#01-118) and the Fish Head Soup ($6) did not disappoint at all! The soup is rich, flavourful and packed with umami from the fragrant fried fish head and ginger. Although it is a little pricey, the amount of fish is super generous and the quality is definitely worth it. Paired with a simple bowl of rice, this is one hearty and comforting meal!
