Decent sushi here and we love the cute robots that deliver the food. Would say go for the salmon belly > salmon with the latter lacking in much taste

Hearty bowl of juicy and tender beef well-marinated in a savory sauce that coated the fluffy rice

Reimagined CNY classic dish with a Japanese twist. Think usual fresh greens tossed with premium and thick cuts of hamachi, applewood smoked salmon, and crispy fried fish skin, paired with a slightly tangy apple plum vinaigrette. P.S Yu Sheng is available until 12 Feb via preorder!

DIY Japanese pancake restaurant where one can try your hand at cooking or leave it to the professionals. We opted for the latter to ensure that it was grilled to perfection but can imagine it might be fun to give it a try yourselves.

Choose your own ingredients for the pancake and we opted for prawn/ taco, smoked duck and shiitake. Sweet-savory mix with generous topping of okonomiyaki sauce, mayo, and umami bonito flakes and seaweed. Crisp exterior with a creamy center of egg, greens, red ginger, and tempura crisps. Preferred the taco over prawn for a chewier textural contrast.

A tad pricey for what it is but enjoyable and authentic experience.

Sister brand of @tanukiraw serves affordable Japanese fare with dons from $9.90 nett!

We enjoyed both the classic Bara Chirashi ($12.90) and more indulgent Hotate, Salmon, and Ikura Don ($18.90). Both had a good assortment and portion of fresh chunks of sashimi with sprinkle of sesame seeds. Only feedback was the Japanese rice was too wet and clumpy (not sure if it was just an off day). Also had sides of Unagi Kabayaki ($8) and Shishamo Karaage ($5), and refreshing beer ($9) and coconut water ($3).

Overall, a budget-friendly option when craving Japanese dons!

Delicious Japanese buffet with premium cuts of meat, fresh seafood, and various sides. One can top up $20 for unlimited Wagyu beef which was ultra indulgent, melt-in-the-mouth goodness.

Our favourites were the wagyu (naturally), and fresh seafood such as buttery scallops with creamy roe, garlic butter tiger prawns, and oyster with kaki sauce. Also liked that they offered less common cuts such as beef tongue and pork jowl.

The gowu kaktal salad was an interesting refreshing cold dish of fruits, crab meat, and egg tofu in a sesame-like sauce.

Open 24 hours, this humble store offers affordable and delicious Japanese fare with a Western twist.

Yakitori (from $1.40) - Nicely charred assortment of skewers with our unexpected favourite being the broccoli.

The $8.50 set includes choice of noodle/ rice and meat and comes with a drink/ soup. Enjoyed both the tamago don with the fluffy creamy scrambled egg and flavourful garlic fried rice. We had well-marinated thin cut beef and topped up for the jumbo unagi ($16). Highly recommend the generously sized eel that was not too sweet, caramelized on the top, and with succulent meat. Other carb options include yakisoba or curry rice.

We enjoyed the Umaki ($5) which was flavourful creamy eggs encasing unagi. Assorted tempura ($11) was crispy but did wish for more flavoured batter.

Affordable, quick, and delicious unagi bowls. Fresh eel is grilled over charcoal charcoal to a tender finish and caramelized exterior. Enjoyed the sweet-savory (not too sweet) marination that’s enhanced by wasabi or chili flakes. Choose from the main meaty section of the fish (unadon) or more tender tail (unajyu). They also offer hitsumabushi comprising smaller, more tender chunks mixed with seaweed and coriander. Enjoyed the light dashi soup with yuzu undertones.
