Pork ribs were soft and comforting with a light black bean flavour. Har gow was passable but the skin was a little too thick, which threw off the bite. Prawn chee cheong fun had smooth rice rolls and decent texture but the sauce leaned more sweet than savoury.

Chee Cheong Fun freshly made to order using the cloth method. It comes in four flavours/fillings (plain, prawn, char siew and scallops). The thin and translucent white sheets of chee cheong fun are then coated in light soya sauce and garnished with roasted sesame seeds. Pair it with some mildly spicy chilli for some extra kick 》$5.50

This stall has only four items on the menu but they are very popular for their freshly made pau. Other than the char siew pau and glutinous rice chicken (lo mai gai) that I have gotten for myself, they also have big (pork) pau and siew mai. The pau over here is freshly made and sells out like hot cakes fresh out from the steamer. Unlike the usual char siew with red sauce, the char siew buns here are Cantonese style with chunky pieces of bbq meat in brown sauce wrapped in a soft and fluffy bun. The lo mai gai is not overly greasy, infused with savoury sauces in the slightly sticky and tender-firm-to-the-bite rice.

Yong Huat Delight has earned its reputation for velvety smooth chee cheong fun, freshly steamed upon order. Each delicate rice roll is soft yet satisfyingly packed with turnip and succulent shrimp, offering a delightful contrast of textures. A generous topping of chye poh (preserved radish) adds a welcome crunch, while their signature blend of savoury sauce ties everything together in a harmony of flavours. Beyond their famed chee cheong fun, they also serve warm, comforting bowls of congee.

Freshly made, steamed hot, and packed with flavour — the lo mai gai (糯米雞) from Hong Yun Bao is a rare old-school gem. The rice is fragrant and perfectly sticky without being mushy, generously stuffed with tender, juicy chicken. It’s the kind of comforting bite that’s getting harder to find these days.

And while you’re there, don’t miss out on their siew mai. Soft and impeccably marinated, these little bites are free of that overpowering alkaline taste you sometimes encounter elsewhere.

But here’s the catch: it runs out fast. Once the bao and rice are ready, the queue starts snaking and everything flies off the shelves as quickly as the steam disappears. Come early, or be prepared to wait.

The skin of the xiao long bao was delicate fine and almost translucent, filled with well-marinated minced pork and pork broth. The pork broth was subtle in its flavours with a hint of sweetness 》$6 / 5 pcs

A dim sum place that runs 24 hours for the owls who crave dim sum late at night. Although the dim sum here isn’t the best, they are pretty affordable with a wide range of items on the menu.

We ordered the char siew and prawn chee cheong fun that came doused in homemade soya sauce with a dollop of sambal belacan and then sprinkled with sesame seeds. The rice rolls were thin and silky smooth with a melt in the mouth texture.

They are generous with the amount of char siew placed in their rice rolls and this is more sweet and savoury in flavour coming from the char siew. I personally prefer the prawn rice roll that is lighter in flavour with fresh and crunchy prawns wrapped in there.

Juicy and tender steamed pork ribs in black bean sauce were pretty good and taste above average. The prawns in har gow were good but the skin was on the thicker side which could be better if it is half the thickness. Steamed rice roll with shrimp came with a good amount of tasty soya sauce but the rice rolls were thicker than the usual. The custard bun was good with smooth and runny custard flowing in the bun.

The dim sum is reasonably priced but don’t expect outstanding HK-style dim sum or even decent service. I was assigned to a table with dishes not cleared and prompted to proceed to make my order first. The staff at the counter kept taking orders while no one bothers to clean the table despite numerous requests and it was left like this till our order arrives 20mins later. The beverage was also not served beforehand and I had to ask again when the food is served. I had to cancel some orders where they did not arrive when I’m done with the food and beverage served. This seems like a severe lack of manpower and I hope they get this fixed soon ☹️

Crunchy in every bite with succulent shrimps and generous chunks of sweet radish. Although crispy and crunchy, I find it too oily and sinful, not exactly worth the calories 》$6.50

Rice rolls with scallop drenched in a sweet and savoury sauce, topped with fried shallots and sambal chilli. The freshly made chee cheong fun is so soft, silky smooth and firm that I don't mind having it plain with the savoury sauce and sambal chilli 》$3.50

These chee cheong fun are made to order. The prawn chee cheong fun has a smooth texture with prawns and crunchy bits of shredded vegetables, served on a plate with sweet soya sauce and topped with sesame seeds. It's not common to have vegetables in prawn chee cheong fun and although it added a different texture to it, I prefer to have it plain 》$3

I'm in a relationship with food. Why can't we just declare our never ending love and vows towards some food item? I'm sure that would not result in divorces.
