Ordered half chicken with all three flavors - steamed, roasted and soya. Loved how tender and fragrant the chicken was. Rice and chilli sauce could be better tho.
Laksa $2.80 (small)
Queued up 15 mins for this. This laksa consisted of fish cakes, crab sticks, taupok, hum, beansprouts, hard boiled eggs and thick bee hoon. The laksa gravy was light yet flavorful. You could drink it without feeling gelat. The chilli and dried shrimps made the gravy tasty and spicy with a kick. One of the better laksa I have tasted.
A wide range of desserts to choose from.
CHEESE MANDU TTEOKBOKKI - Korean rice cake cooked in hot sauce, served on Korean hot pan with fried fish cake, egg, corn cheese dumpling, ramyeon and pineapple. Everything just tasted so good together. It's my first time tasting the corn cheese dumpling and it really wowed me. SPICY DAKGALBI - Overnight marinated chicken thigh with spicy sauce. WOOSAMGYEOB - US beef shortplate, thinly sliced and marinated with their special juicy sauce. The meats were marinated well and tasted so goodddd! Definitely one of the better Korean BBQ I have tasted.
The congee was thick and gooey, full of ingredients. I ordered one with pig intestines, meatballs, century egg and an egg. Splashed with a dash of sesame oil and pepper, this was one comfort food.
Celebrated my birthday at House of Seafood yesterday. Black Pepper Crab - It was really good. The meat was fresh and succulent. The crab they used was huge too. There was a kick in the spices used, but it wasn't too spicy. Wok Fried Prawns with Fragrant Butter - Loved the sauce that was thick and creamy. Crispy Beancurd with Chef's Special Sauce - The Beancurd was crispy on the outside and smooth on the inside. Wished there was more of the Special Sauce tho. Honey Chicken with Fragrant Garlic Chips - The sauce was good but wished the chicken was more tender and not so dry.
If you like Wanton Mee cooked the old school way, you should definitely try this. Loved the simple chilli based sauce mixed with the springy noodles. Wished more sauce was given tho. The Wanton Soup was good too.
Ordered the original Black Carrot Cake and Tom Yum Carrot Cake. Found the Tom Yum Carrot Cake too salty, the Black Carrot Cake was good tho. Some food are best eaten the traditional way.
A velvety chocolate ice cream covered in thick cracking Magnum white chocolate with cocoa cookie pieces. I just can't say no to white chocolate! ๐
JB San Lou Mee Hoon ($11) - Fried with shrimps, egg and vegetables, the Mee Hoon was full of flavors and wok hei. This was super good! Best eaten with green chilli. Salted Egg Prawn Roll ($20) - The salted egg prawns were crunchy and fresh. Corns were added and gave extra sweetness to the flavors. Another must order! Deep-Fried Fermented Bean Pork Belly ($12) - The pork belly strips were marinated well and the flavors were good. They remained moist and tender. Best eaten with sambal chilli.
The Sumo Ramen ($23) - Slow-roast oxtail, braised beef tendon, red wine boneless short rib and sauteed sliced US beef. The ramen came with bean sprouts, toasted seaweed, black fungus and free-flow of soft-boiled eggs. The beef was tender and flavorful and I loved the al dente noodles. Mini Loco Moco Don ($18) - This was food orgasm for me! The rice soaked up the house-made foie gras sauce and was so tasty. It was topped with pan-seared foie gras, succulent luncheon meat and fried quail egg. A must order for me!
