Returned again to this small neighbourhood gelato shop.
Previously had the blue Pea Vanilla, and had to get it again, since i brought a companion along this time.
This time around, I decided to also try the chrysanthemum+Cacao Nibs, which tasted very old school, like those "Super" brand instant Chrysanthemum Tea which I have had whilst growing up in the 90s
Croffles were not freshly made, but microwaved. The Maple syrup and Gelato are just the right combination to have together with the croffles.
+$2 for 2 additional dumplings
Noodles were springy and el dente. Dumplings were meaty & flavourful.
Their char siew is the dry and lean type, so don't expect anything special.
I would say this is a slightly above average WTM.
Tian Xiang Wanton Noodle used to be located at the now demolished Tanglin Halt food centre.
Queenstown Lontong is a popular store at Magaret Drive Hawker Centre. Queues get rather long during weekend breakfasts.
Other than their Lontong, their Mee Rebus also popular here. Everybody in queue; would order Mee Rebus or Lontong.
Mee Rebus was rich in flavours. Gravy was thick and flavourful.
Ikan bilis was excellent. Bergedil was quite good as well
The Fried Chicken is not bad. The skin was crunchy and tasted damn shiok.
The chilli was flavourful and not overpowering like most ayam penyet chilli I ever had.
Ayam Penyet usually comes with white rice, but here, u can also have the Nasi Goreng version for additional $1.
Xiang Ji now has the longer lor mee queue, ever since the other popular stall here expanded to be easily available nation wide.
The gravy here is Thick and garlicky.
Generous serving of ingredients.
It's the 1st store on the right, after the escalator.
Lao Chen's Carrot Cake is uniquely softer than the usual carrot cake that I ever had, some would call it mushy, but it did not taste like it went bad.
I actually quite like this, and this serving for "small" @ $3.50 was rather big as compared with some other places where $3.50 will get me a much smaller plate.
Arnold's Fried Chicken is certainly on everyone's list of best fried chicken.
AFC is located on the 2nd floor of Tampines West CC. It is a small outlet with a few seats for dine in, with not much dine in crowd. But looks are deceiving, because their kitchen is damn busy due to AFC being available on multiple food delivery platforms. Had to wait almost 30mins after ordering .
The standard of Arnold's is definitely still there, chicken are fresh and tender. But their thigh meat is definitely the best part, where there are more crispy parts.
Chicken Fresh, Tender, Juicy. Very well roasted. I actually really like this, and will definitely return to try the other flavours.
Galbi sauce was ok, it was not overpowering and the subtle taste of sweetness and garlic matches the chicken so well.
Saw Google reviews not so good, but if u read the bad reviews, it's not due to their Chicken, but mostly due to the waiting time. All Chicken here are oven baked upon order, so it was understandable, but the waiting time was really rather long, almost 20-25mins wait after order.
LiLi Kway Chap is one of the only small handful of stalls that ate still opened after 7pm here at TBFC.
So evenings here at TBFC are usually so much quieter, and 1 good thing about TBFC, is that there is sheltered car park at its roof. This is so convenient, especially with the rainy evenings being so common recently.
The Braised meats here were hit and miss, the braised pork was tender, juicy, fatty. The braised duck was a little dry.
Chilli was ok, it was spicy and goes well with the dish.
Soup has a strong herbal taste.
Only 1 item on the menu to choose from, and u either get the $4.50 or $6.50 portion.
Meats where tender and flavourful with every bite.
Pig stomach and lean meat were my favourites here.
Although the Soup was clear, and not "cloudy" whatsoever, it was flavourful with a distinct taste of salted vegetables.
Free soup top up at the store if u can't get enough of it.
Update: Store owners have annouced on Facebook that they are retiring with immediate effect.
Guan Kee was a Michelin Bib Gourmand listed stall located at Ghim Moh Market.
When I went to queue for this 1 month ago on a lunch time Sunday, had to queue at least an hour.
Their CKT tasted very flavourful, wok hei was evident and the entire dish had just the right "Wetness" to it.
Na Na Homemade Curry is a Michelin Bib Gourmand listed joint that serves up some shiok curry.
The curry chicken is one of the more budger friendly item on their menu, of course, if u are unwilling to spent too much on their signature fish head curry.
Chicken was tender and the curry was very spicy and flavourful, though it was slightly watery.
