Singapore Food Street serves up what could be the last local Singaporean food before ones departs from Singapore. (For those visiting Singaoore)
For the locals like us, this is our last local food before we go for our trip.
Nasi Lemak here was only ok, the rendang sauce wasn't so flavourful, but at least the otah was good.
Chicken Chop + Pork Chop + Sausage
Old school western food, large portion. Meats were grilled well, juicy and not dry whatsoever.
Chef Hainanese was previously at Tanglin Halt and have since shifted here to Magaret Drive Hawker.
They only open 2 hours between 7-9pm on Saturday to Wednesdays only. Business is good, with lots of cash notes clipped onto the pole at the ordering counter.
Meng kee char kway teow has been hyped up recently on social media, for being 1 of the best char kway teow in Singapore. Just YouTube search char kway teow.
It is really good, the lup cheong quantity is very generous, wok hei is evident and the entire plate felt eggy, just the way I like all my CKT.
Signature Char Grilled Pork Cheek (100g)
The Meats here at Burning Oak are Charcoal Grilled. And both rice bowls I had here were really good. Can taste the smokiness of the meats.
The beef striploin was tender and perfectly medium rare.
The pork Cheek was tender and fatty. This was so good, I da pao another back for supper.
Portion not very filling for me. But there's plenty of other foods here at bedok marketplace to fill u up.
3 choices of sauces to choose from for every rice bowl u order
- XO yakiniku
- Creamy Dashi Garlic
- Spicy Miso
If like me, u can't decide which sauce, the menu will guide u which sauce is suitable for which meats.

Pistachio Almond Gelato is a must have here, taste very good.
Waffle had a crispy exterior, with a soft interior. Plus, it smells so good. Damn fragrant. Waffles here are freshly baked on the spot.
The Seafood Thick Soup here is Thick and so flavourful.
The Grouper Fish slices tasted so soft and so fresh, prawns were fresh also.
The minced pork also damn good.
And the chilli provided compliments the seafood so well. It was tangy flavoured.
We also had the fish soup, which was ok, but once u go seafood soup, u just lose interest in the normal fish soup.
Pumpkin rice also good, very fragrant.
The sambal stingray here is no longer as good as a decade ago.
Even Google reviews agree.
How do u become one of the most popular sambal stingray in Singapore, to a 2.5/5 review on Google.
The sambal here got a curry powder taste, which made it unique in a way.
Bedok 85 is also famous for their sambal stingray. Last time army book out day, the whole platoon will travel from sungei gedong camp all the way here for supper. This was sadly more than a decade ago.
Times have change, what used to be the best sambal stingray at bedok 85 is no longer.
Chomp Chomp BBQ stingray is now no.1
Maybe standards have drop for both, but Chomp chomp sambal stingray taste better now.
Sambal here still very good. The half where u scrap the meat off the bone was damn good.
The half without bone was sadly a tad drier.
Bedok 85 is the only place on earth, I will eat Bak Chor Mee Soup.... currently.
I usually like my BCM dry, with chilli and vinegar, but bedok 85 is the exception.
Bedok 85 is Notorious for the 2 shops selling BCM Soup and situated side by side. I had both and I can't totally mix up which had a stronger taste or whatever.
But all I can say is, both are awesome. Both have garlicky Soup, both noodles were bouncy.
Just eat both, customers don't have to be loyal. Just eat whichever.

Chef Chik is such an elusive place to eat at, as it only opens from Wednesday to Saturdays only, and only around 4 hours for each of those days.
Unless u work nearby, efforts have to be made to get here to Chef Chik
Finally the chance arrived for me to finally eat here, and I had to go for the best dish, which was the Steamed Threadfish Belly.
Firstly, the fish was so damn fresh, some of the slices were with jellylicious meats, and some were with soft tender meat. So damn fresh. Just watch out for the bones.
And the sauce was so damn good, it was garlicky, it was spicy, it was flavourful.
Truly 5 š for this dish.
The other menu items also look damn good, till next time.
