KEK is a well-known zhi char place here at Alexandra. Getting parking lots here will always be a challenge here during meal times.
Gets very packed in the restaurant as well, so make your reservations before coming down.
1) Signature Moonlight Hor Fun
- one of their signature dish, strong wok hei with thick and sticky texture due to the 2 raw eggs. A must have here
2) Sharing Platter
- Golden Pearl Roll
- Prawn roll
- Yam Basket
- You tiao with Seafood Paste
- a great platter for sharing, especially to try their signature Golden Pearl Roll & Prawn Roll.
- all crispy and tasted good. Must order item.
3) Crab Bee Hoon Soup
- Not their signature dish, but soup was flavourful and crab was fresh.
4) Claypot Liver
- a must have dish here. The best dish today, sauce was damn good and liver was not overcooked whatsoever. Just right.
5) Coffee Pork Ribs
- very distinct coffee taste. Pork Ribs were tender and the first plate to be cleared today.
6) Salted Egg Sotong
- lots of good reviews on this and rightly so, most value for money, as the sotong pieces seem to be endless. Each small piece is well coated with salted Egg.
7) Sambal Kangkong
- every zhi char dinner must have this, and the Sambal Kangkong here definitely meets my high standard.
8) Spinach with 3 kinds egg
- quite ok. Nothing really fantastic, but not the worst I ever had.
Was a frequent customer back when they were located at Tampines Street 81. The store owner used to have his own urban farm where he grow his own vegetable previously.
So his food here, are all very healthy conscious type. No white rice served here.
Their fish have always been fresh. Each order of fish soup comes with your choice of 2 vegetables, which are all on display at the front of the shop.
What I also like about this shop, is its wide array of sauces to choose from, all of which was concocted by the owner. So just take a few to try, to see which suits your taste buds the most.
Yong Kee Seafood is a Zhi Char establishment that opens from 5.45pm till late(2.45am, according to google).
They serve some damn good zhi char and their speciality here is their Mee Sua Gor & Chaota Bee Hoon.
There are tables available indoors in the coffee shop, but opted to sit outside and enjoy the free outdoor music atmosphere from next door
1) Mee Sua Gor: Basically Mee Sua in Thick Soup. Surprisingly flavourful. Goes very well with pepper and vinegar, eating it machiam like shark fin soup.
2) Chaota Bee Hoon: Damn Crispy & Good, may look plain on the surface, but all their prawns and other ingredients are hidden beneath this layer of ultra fried Bee hoon.
3) Dried Fried Minced Pork with Prawns in Tofu Skin: this is also very good, flavourful and this plate is the first to be cleared.
4) Hot Plate Tofu: the sauce was thick and flavourful, egg was still runny.
When eating at a Hainanese establishment such as here, 1 of the menu items that usually catch my eyes, is the sweet and sour sauce dishes.
The Chicken "Chop" here is fried like machiam Cutlet. It was crispy & the chicken was tender as well.
Sauce was a little too sweet for me though.
This set comes with white rice as well.
One of my favourite stores here at BMFC also serves Pork Ribs noodles.
Pork Ribs were tender and easily slides off the bone.
Usually long queues during breakfasts.
Habibie Seafood is a Halal ZhiChar-like establishment located at 829 Tampines Street 81 coffee shop.
Their dishes all not bad, especially liked their Tiga Rasa Deep fried fish, which is fried fish in spicy, sweet&sour sauce.
Taste like childhood, just like the Chee Cheong Fun from primary school canteen.
Silky smooth Chee Cheong Fun in Thick and sweet dark sauce, with sasame oil and seeds.
Chee Cheong Fun here is retro singapore style. So comes with no fillings inside.
Quite a popular store here at ghim moh.
Hock Soon Carrot Cake is 1 of 2 immensely popular Carrot cake store here at GM-FC.
Always spotting a long queue during Sunday breakfast or lunch hour, this popular shop sells satay, rojak & Otah too.
But it's their Carrot Cake that everyone is queuing up for. Waited damn long to reach my turn to order, was undecided to get black or white, but the longer I waited, the more hungry I got. And when my turn came along, instinctively, ordered 2 plates of each flavour.
Black Carrot Cake was damn good, the egg was still so "Yolkie", sweet but not overly. Instantly became 1 of my favourite CTK to have
White Carrot Cake was also good, chilli was good also.
Both Carrot cake also damn good, so just buy whatever your preference is.

@60 cents per piece.
Stall owners were an elderly couple, cooking their Chwee Kueh over charcoal smoke.
Chee kueh was good.
Cai po was sweet flavoured type
El dente noodles with their hand made fishballs, fishcakes and fish dumplings.
No Minced pork here. Totally Fish.
Fish Dumplings and Fishball were awesome, burst if flavours with the 1st bite
Expect Long Queue during meal times. At least 40mins on a Sunday lunch hour.
Hua Yu Wee is an old school establishment located along Upper East coast road, and has been around since the 1950s.
The restaurant itself is located inside a huge bungalow with indoors and outdoor seating. The interior had a very retro vibe.
The must have dish here at Hua Yu Wee is their chilli crab. The chilli gravy was thick and eggy, much spicer than most Chilli Crabs at other Restaurants, but damn flavourful.
Goes without saying, their chilli crab is fresh and meat just goes so well with their chilli sauce. Total Yums
