Pictured is the 上海生煎包 that is supposed to be their signature dish: soft dumpling/bao-like skin with a pan-fried crispy bottom encasing a ball of juicy pork meat, think 小笼包's bigger brother. Ever since 萝春阁(Luó Chūn Gē) at Tampines 1 closed a few years ago, I've been on the search for a similar 生煎包. Now, that search has finally come to an end 😌

Decided to check out this old fashioned place for breakfast. Kopi was really good and bread was classic. This place seems stuck in time - nobody rushing around, just old uncles and aunties coming for their kopi or nasi lemak. Definitely worth waking up earlier and the slight detour before work.

Enjoyed this, but I think next time I'll stick with the Kaisen Don which is much more worth it imo.

Prefer their mint chocolate, but went with this since I needed some morning caffeine ☕

Will always get this when I come here for breakfast. Today I got it with Gu Cai, but they have other fillings like char siew, prawn, salmon and a few more choices! It's handmade as in freshly-made-right-in-front-of-you-handmade, so you know it's good. Really soft and light, just right. Topped off with chye po to break the monotony, a true delight! 😋

(The stall is called Da Chang Jing, and it's along the row facing the road)

Inside the ground floor food court of CT Hub 2 building in Kallang is a corner stall that the health-conscious will appreciate. Owned and run by a young female hawker, it offers a decent variety of salads and wraps.
When I was there today, I got the $4.90 base salad. It turned out to be acceptable in size (but if you're famished, maybe not) and really fresh in taste. Comprising of chopped romaine lettuce as a starting point, I got to pick five toppings (went for kidney beans, pasta, sweet corn, black olives and beetroot). Since breakfast seemed like a lifetime ago, I forked out an extra $2 for a premium topping of tuna mayo as well. It was the only one left as the other options which include avocado prawn and smoked salmon, had run out by the time I was there for my very late lunch.
Based on the quality and taste of what I had, this is a stall I can see myself frequenting whenever I happen to be in the area.

From the brains behind Department Of Caffeine comes Populus! If you enjoy immaculate service and good quality food, this is your best bet in that area. Parking available at the pinnacle at duxton.

Finally made my way down to try this non-conventional dish that lives to it's expectation. A thin layer of beehoon fried to crisp and simmered in the wok hei, not forgetting to find traces of pork lard that gives an additional enhancement.
