$7 odd per pax, the elderly couple is known to be ferocious towards people who doesn’t follow their “rules”, and charges customers as they please... I wonder if they consulted a Fengshui sensei about their stall’s opening hours and their attitude toward customers (or could be the other way round, chicken-and-egg issue hahas). Back to the topic, love the peppery soup, as peppery as the stallholders, it reminds me of bak kut teh, with more dried chili flakes! Don’t order the pig innards, they just taste weird. Must take those 3-layer sio bak!

$8, the coffee, enriched with a velvety creamy texture. Perhaps it was the dark chocolate in this blend that made it less a coffee drink, but at least it’s not that acidic! You may skip the almond croissant.

Having a late night? I’ll always crave for this mee sua in Kembangan (I’ve ordered all-pig’s-kidney version which is more ex than the usual $5 pig’s organ mee sua)! Though today’s pig’s kidneys are slightly overcooked (a little too chewy), I still love the texture of mee sua in this herbal pork soup! I’ve always wanted to try the Black Chicken Herbal Soup but till today, I’ve yet to because this mee sua keeps making me come back for more!

Under Tung Lok Group is Taiwanese cuisine centred restaurant, Shin Yeh. Here for a reunion lunch and this Shark’s Fin broth caught my attention as it came with much crab meat and roe!

The cheaper option yet very value-for-money at $5.30 (excluding the flat white), it’s wholesome enough for me, as compared to other fancier stuff in the breakfast menu... though I still prefer croissants from France...

Probably the most popular western food stall in this Hawker Centre, and you see the uncles work like clockwork, taking orders by the batch and creating these dishes for hungry customers like me. Sadly mine was over-grilled, it tastes too rancid. However, I still love that coleslaw, a must-have for every dish!

I haven’t been here for a few years, the menu seems different. A little disappointed that the marutama ramen I used to know seem to have ceased to exist, although it still has yummilicious shoyu half-boiled eggs and that fatty braised pork cube still melts in your mouth perfectly. I just can’t find what’s the difference but overall didn’t give me that “oomph” I used to experience here.

Apart from its infamous Nasi Lemak, try this dish - Asam Pedas! Love the texture of its stingray because it was smooth and not over-cooked! The sourness from asam makes it just right a spicy (pedas) dish to go with warm white rice, onions beefing up its sweetness too! You may skip the otak-otak, sayur lemak and chendol and go to Maxwell Hawker for better choices.

Just the way I like it - sweet, moist, warmed; enhanced with vanilla ice-cream. Goes pretty well with coffee!

Looking for Halal pastry options? Definitely must buy from AJ Delights! Love each and every flavour of moist, fresh off the oven muffins that will definitely perk u up no matter where you are!

I didn’t recall my last buttermilk chicken burger here was this good; really love the coleslaw within because it’s not bitter at all and it helps create texture to the whole dish! Though buttermilk could be a tad covered up by the abundance of black pepper used for the batter, this burger sure goes pretty well today!

Never knew Teochew muey can be this yummy until I first dined at Ye Lai Xiang. As the restaurant name goes, “fragrance when night falls”, I wondered was it because of the night rain or the strenuous exercise I did before dinner that made this so yummy! Love today’s lala (clams) - fresh and juicy in light curry; also not forgetting its very crunchy French beans that goes so well with the rice porridge!
