So off we headed here for date night on Friday. The Pelican Lobster Burger ($68) was our indulgence for the night. It’s kind of pricey for a burger (though there’s lobster, I know) if there’s no promo, but with the 1-for-1 promo, it was still rather reasonably priced. The lobster chunks were sizeable and pretty juicy. Coupled with the cheese and bacon within the burger as well as the pillowy bun, this made for a rather satisfying Friday night meal. Definitely left with a happier tummy than I did the previous time (can’t remember what I ordered that time). We also had wine (think we ordered Chardonnay; sorry my memory is failing me😂), which was also 1-for-1 during Happy Hour (till 9pm)! Guess this also makes for a pretty good place for a drinks night out with a view of Marina Bay if you choose to be seated al fresco😊

This time, we tried something a little different from the usual Sri Lankan crab; we had the Dungeness crab ($8.80/100g) stir fried with golden salted egg. It was pretty good; the meat was firm and rather juicy, but we felt that in terms of sweetness, mud crabs triumph. The salted egg definitely helped to enhance the taste of the crab meat. I do wish they were more generous with the salted egg though!

This is still one of my favourite tiramisus! Coming in a takeaway box (and therefore not being extremely photogenic) and costing $14.50 (which is not cheap at all), the uninformed might be slightly turned off from trying it, but trust me, this is definitely worth a try (and the calories)! The moistness of the inner layers is just right and it’s not overly creamy. The different layers are also well-distributed and it all just falls into place. Well, taste buds are always subjective but mine really agree with this tiramisu😋

If you have #burpplebeyond this would be the place for you. We had our entire meal, inclusive of cocktails and sides, for less than $36 with our 1-for-1 offer for our choice of main (subject to certain exclusions), side and cocktail. Very good deal I must say! I quite liked the Hot Buttermilk Chicken ($13), though I felt that the chicken batter could have been crispier. The Huge Chicken Taco ($14) contained too many veggies for my liking (I’m very carnivorous haha). We had the Fries ($5) and Rotisserie Fat Rice ($4) as our sides, which didn’t really leave a deep impression but were definitely more than passable. I enjoyed the cocktails (Frozen Chico Margarita and Frozen Loco Paloma, each $14) as I found them to be just right in terms of sweetness. Really refreshing for a light Friday night drink. Of course, if you are looking for strong cocktails, you might have to try other options😝

Popped by on Tuesday as there was a 1-for-1 promo on rice bowls and 15% off ala carte items! @cherylkang and I ordered a Foie Gras Truffle Yakiniku with Fresh Truffle ($30) and Unagi Foie Gras with Scallop ($28.90) as well as the Spam Fries ($10.90?) to share. Cheryl had 3 oysters at the Happy Hour price of $2 each (so cheap righttt) and she really liked it and wanted to order more, but it was sold out unfortunately. I can’t give a review on the oysters myself as I’m not a fan of oysters! The rice bowls were generally pretty good but I felt that the yakiniku slices were a little too thin. From what I recall, they used to be more thickly cut (or maybe the one at the other outlet is meant to be different?). The spam fries were not bad, though nothing extraordinary. Cocktails at $10 during Happy Hour were a good deal also and I had 2 glasses. I quite liked the Sake Honey as it’s something a little more special. Of course, my safe choice of Lychee Martini didn’t fail me either:) #sgfood #sgfoodlover #sgfoodtrend #sgfoodporn #sgfoodstagram #foodstagram #instafood #foodphotography #sgfooddiary #sgfoodies #sgfoodblogger #instafoodsg #foodsg #foodiesg #sgeats #sgrestaurant #japaneserestaurant #japanesefood #japanesecuisine #sgjapanesefood #donburi #japanesedon #truffle #spamfries #foiegras #burpple #cocktails #happyhour #singaporeinsiders #sgeats
Mid-Autumn Festival is for family to spend time together, so I had dinner with my parents last Friday (on the exact day of the festival)😊. We had the soon hock on a previous visit and liked it, so we decided to order it again. The texture of the soon hock was as smooth as I remembered and the sauce was really tasty. Still one of my favourite dishes at Tung Lok😄 The skin of the roast pork was reallyyy crispy; it was crispier than those from the other chain Chinese restaurants such as Crystal Jade, Peach Garden etc. I liked it this way, but I guess it’s up to personal choice as some like it crispier than others. It was a nice touch that they served us mooncakes to celebrate the festival (though by that time I was so stuffed I had to struggle to eat haha). Overall, quality of food was consistent and we enjoyed the meal😊
Traditional Cantonese-style steamed ‘Soon Hock’ $38
Deep-fried prawn with wasabi-mayo sauce $28 - the veg dish came with this for free cos of a membership promo!
Crispy roast pork belly $12
Chilled mango, pomelo and sago with ice-cream served in coconut $10

This was the first time I’ve been here, so we decided to go for the signature ramen as well as a side.
Ramen was decent, although I felt that it was not distinctive - it did not feel much different from other bowls of tonkotsu ramen I’ve tried before.
Will probably want to try other types of ramen on the menu the next time I’m here.
Signature Uma Uma Ramen - $16.80
One-bite Gyoza - $9.50

Had the #burpplebeyond menu (see last pic) and paid a grand total of $25.90 for 2 sets! Such value for money right😊We has the mentaiyaki kaisendon and the mentaiyaki tamago kaisendon. The sashimi was rather fresh and I liked the mentaiyaki tamago, though I wish it came hot. For the price, I think this is worth a try if you are looking to use your Burpple Beyond promos!

Ordered the chirashi don and hot soba noodles set ($34) (2 carbs ain’t too much when u’re starving right HAHA). The sashimi slices were cut quick thickly (which I like) and were fresh, and the hot soba noodles would suffice to satisfy a soba craving. Though there are better Japanese restaurants around Singapore, I would think this is one of the better ones in the Alexandra area!

We decided to try out Funan’s Dark Gallery after our dinner, making good use of our #burpplebeyond one-for-one promo.
Each of Dark Gallery’s trademark platters is served with a brief description of the items.
Despite that, I couldn’t taste a huge difference between each flavour of ice cream 🤪
As for the chocolate platter, we found the “white” macaron too sweet for our liking. But I liked the “milk” chocolate, which contained salted caramel and cake inside. The “dark” chocolate was decent too.
B found the “ruby” flavour most to her liking.
Still an enjoyable experience, learning a little bit about each type of chocolate we were tasting.
Dark Chocolate Ice Cream Platter - $14
Chocolate Tasting Flight - $14

$17.90) promo for Claypot Prawns Vermicelli. Was too hungry to think further, and so we settled on this place. Between 3 people, we ordered the Royal Thai Hotpot ($38.80) and the vermicelli dish. We chose the Tom Yum Red soup base, and were also given a choose of spice level (for which we chose the option of ‘less spicy’). Maybe cos we were all starving, but when the hotpot came, we all felt that it smelled really good. For the price, they were pretty generous with the ingredients (well, you pay the same price for hotdogs and luncheon meat when you order army stew at Korean restaurants right haha). The flower crabs were slightly troublesome to peel, but otherwise we were pretty satisfied with the entire hotpot dish. Actually this was my first time having Thai hotpot, so I don’t really have a benchmark to compare against. But I rather enjoyed it personally. The vermicelli was more ordinary I felt. For that, I have had better ones at other Thai restaurants. I think I would patronise this place again for the hotpot, and to maybe try some of the other items on the menu!

Finally got to try the food when I paid a visit for lunch on Saturday! Between the 3 of us, we had the British Breakfast Platter and Breakfast Waffle with Bacon and additional Smoked Salmon. We also had a 7 oz White Coffee and a Long Black. I can’t recall the individual prices (sorry for my goldfish memory haha) but I think the total was about $38, which I thought was very reasonable. If I don’t recall wrongly, they do not charge GST and service charge on top of the stated prices. The coffee was good, which explains why I have been here multiple times. The food was pretty decent. The scrambled eggs could have been creamier, but otherwise, I had not much complaints. The mushrooms were good, but could be less salty. If you like crispy bacon, you would like the bacon as it belongs to the crispy type. I also liked that they were generous in the portion of the additional smoked salmon; there were 4 pretty large slices! If you are craving for cafe food but don’t wish to break the food, I would definitely recommend you to try this place (if you haven’t already done so!). #sgfoodtrend #sgfoodlover #sgfooddiary #sgfood #foodsg #sgfoodblogger #sgfoodblog #foodporn #foodstagram #sgfoodporn #foodsg #sgfoodies #sgfoodie #sgfoodphotography #foodphotography #sgcafe #sgcafehopping #cafe #alldaybreakfast #bacon #waffles #sgeats #eatbooksg #coffee #sgcoffee #coffeelover #coffeeholic #singaporeinsiders #burpple
