After many recommendations by my colleagues I finally gave this chicken rice a try. Having ate chicken rice for dinner for two years during teenage years (mom was a stall helper), I was quite sick of eating chicken rice. Although the chicken and the rice has its own good standards but personally I do not find it extremely tasty but just above average. What was surprising was the lotus seed soup that they give which stood out from the rest. $5 portion had a substantial amount of chicken and it was pretty much worth it. However, I feel that sticking to my Bak Chor Mee would work out better for me!

Craft beers from $10 or above, I ordered this $14 "watermelon" beer which had a rather uncomfortable after taste. They also have a wasabi flavored one which I didn't enjoy (these are all personal opinions). Surprisingly I enjoyed the "f*cking hell" German lager beer which had a really smooth aftertaste that I found enjoyable! PS: the staff/boss was a really cool guy, the cashier gave a wrong and extra change, my friend who returned the extra cash was rewarded for his honesty with an extra pint of Asahi 😁

Pardon me for this bad photo, I was really too hungry. ($5.30) Due to the rarity of the existence of the spinach noodles, I ordered it without thinking twice, the noodles were admittedly sufficient and good. However the char siew was a real letdown(not that I'm expecting much). The wantons given was full and each of them was about the size of a decent fishball and they were not stingy about the amount of meat that they put into it. I especially liked their dumplings too as I could taste the water chestnut and shrimps. (Big enough to be noticed). Chili was so-so, soup pretty much normal. Strongly recommended when one is looking for something different in Yew Tee.

As I ate my usual fishball noodles this morning, I noticed this new stall in the coffee shop selling chicken rice, so I told myself I should just eat this for lunch! At $2.80 this is one of a bloody good deal, it was so good after finishing my food I went to the uncle and aunty to tell them it was good. Here goes the review, before that I have to say that I am not a chicken rice connoisseur. The chili wasn't too spicy but I found it acceptable, what rocked was its dark soy sauce. It felt like as if it had a little oyster sauce mixed into it as it has a really rich taste compared to those typical straight from factory taste. Chicken was still a little tender despite ordering breast meat and the rice went well with the sauce laid into the chicken! Last but not least, the soup had baby cabbages, carrot slices and even corn with shallots & green onions which tasted even better than those 老火汀, the sweetness with every sip was just too shiok. All these for $2.80, seriously how do I even complain? Hooray, no need to cook Maggie mee for lazy lunches anymoreπŸ˜‹ #hawkerpedia

On my way to work I saw this "towkay SG50" promotion at Sam Leong road. So, why not? This "towkay" sells nasi lemak, mee rebus, laksa, etc... I decided to give their YTF a try. They had only give you 7 different choices, and the promotion was for 5? Well ordered the beehoon soup together at $3.50. Quite a decent meal, although there were only limited choices the food was legit, and flavorful. The soup base was a little different from the typical ones, a little bit saltier, could still raste the tiny pieces of Ikan Bilis. As they do not have the sweet sauce and YTF chili, the staff gave me a small plate of nasi lemak sambal instead! Pretty interesting way to eat YTF for me, chili wasn't too spicy, just alright. I will back to try out their laksa soon!

Having tried many char kuay teows in my life I understood that good ones are hard to find and usually crowded. This one was hidden at corner of Maude road was one of the more satisfying ones I ever had. At $3, a humble portion was given, the only rants I had were the small clams given, but nevertheless they were still quite fresh! The wok hei was so good and it was not overwhelming unlike some others. The fish cakes were delightful as it had a rich taste in it rather than those tasteless soy sauce coated ones. Opens from 11 to 5 plus Mon-Sat, they even maintain a facebook page!

At $4.50, this bowl of bee hoon packs real lot of value! The generous amount of bee hoon and fish slices given will help to ensure one to be really satisfied for lunch! The soup was savory and delicious, I rarely get the milk version but the uncle gave me the wrong one. If you order the one with rice, your soup will be filled this "fish floss" that makes it even nicer!

In order to avoid the crowd, I waited till 3pm before heading from my camping position in starbucks to give this noodles a try. And I still needed to queue at 3pm :/ . The place is really quite authentic with them using cantonese to take orders and they even had that special chili that I see in almost all wanton noodle places in HK. Fast forward to the noodles, the noodles are indeed the same, however the wontons and dumplings shrank to 70% of the original size of those in HK. The soup was not super salty, initially still acceptable until 15 mins later I could feel a salty taste still lingering in my mouth... Having expected the size of the wonton mee to be really puny, I ordered the wonton with dumplings to a "larger" bowl of noodles at $8.50. Although I should have expected the service charge but it still hurt my feelings to have paid $9.35 for a bowl of wonton noodles that I finished in 5 mins. Unless you are really in the craving to have some "real" hk style wonton mee, I wouldn't recommend this place especially with the ongoing queues... The wontons and dumplings maintained its quality but not quantity. Oh, if one haven been to hk before you can give this a try, then assure yourself that you will have a better one there when you manage to eat the original one in HK! (I recommend the version in Jordan's!)

At $3.20, this is really good deal for a set meal of kway chap. 4 large slices of fish cake, 4 pieces of braised pork, one large chunk of tau pok, decent amount of intestines. The thick broth was well balanced with the clear broth of the kway chap itself that it felt so comfortable to consume. It is run by the uncle for decades in this coffee shop and I am lucky to say that it's quality was still maintained throughout the years! Opened from morning to 4.45pm! (Took some time to try this because the wonton mee next door was too good) #hawkerpedia

Took a 15 min walk from the MRT to the soi 19 wonton mee stall and there were 30 ppl queueing in front me. OH wells, the fishball noodles had no queue and I was hungry so here we go. (7.5/10) Noodles were of the optimal texture, chili above average spiciness, soup had a little Unami taste. What was special were its malformed fish balls that were surprising QQ. Thinly sliced fish cake that were given in generous amounts. Last but not least the minced meat which were soft and easy to chew. Not something I will go a long way to eat for, but good enough to be that weekly nearby kopitiam lunch 😁

Not an expert on describing deserts, but these cupcakes were moist and easy to swallow. They weren't too sweet and ugly either. Can't wait to try out the others! πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹
