Priced at $4, available to upsize for $5 and extra bee hoon for no cost, this was much more worth it compared to my lunch. Two huge mashed shrimps, three crispy ngoh hiong, one mushroom/minced meat mix and one bitter gourd fish paste mix. The chilli/sweet sauce mix given was just the right amount for me to dip my food with! Extremely satisfying dinner!
The legendary Kok Kee wonton mee, still as pricey, not fulfilling, always leaving one unsatisfied after eating, yet making one come back to it over and over again. The unique combination of its QQ noodles, unami-like sauce and its fragrant chili will make anyone finish this bowl of noodles in no time! $5.50 for two average wontons and unimpressive char siew.
Not an avid fan of frozen yogurt, but this froyo that came with twin flavors of the original and matcha captured my heart with its distinct flavors!
Beware of most desert shops and approach those that looks authentic! (Generally the better one one is the shabby looking one) Ate two of the same desert on the same evening on the same street and they had a price difference of 10 HKD with the cheaper one being not only better but also more generous!
$7 HKD for 4 pieces. Every time I visited Sham shui Po to get my 3G SIM card I would get this and there would be a long queue for it. They would put 4 sauces on your Chee Chong fun, namely 麻酱(sesame sauce), 豉油(soya sauce), 甜酱(sweet sauce), 辣酱(chilli sauce). Always a good way to start a day of crazy eating with some flavorful breakfast!
The cafe had board games and dinner set menu choices were pretty acceptable! Personally had no issues with the food and ambience as it is really hard to find a place without a crowd in HK without burning a really big hole in the pocket!
Heard from a Tastemaker that Hong Kong was filled with secret cafes hidden in the upper floors of the old buildings in the streets and decided to try it out for myself. Found a cat themed cafe I had 3 cats sitting next to me while I consumed my dinner! The food was decent but it had a minimal spending of 100HKD per person!
A kind of common food found in Hong Kong despite not being very local. There are a few major brands of restaurants selling the same thing at around the same price tasting almost the same, difference isn't huge to tourists but makes a world of difference to locals in terms of their soup, meat and veggies provided. At 30 HKD, this is one food that the office crowd eat during lunch time as it is filling and provides good food at a relatively cheap price. Rice vermicelli were pretty standard but the soup was really nice to drink! Another special part about hk is the choices they offer with their food. They allowed the choice of sour spicy or numb spicy(酸辣/麻辣）, degree of spiciness and also a variety of add ons, again from all kinds of meat to all kinds of balls... Overall it was pretty good and I would always eat it when I'm really hungry.
Chicken wings with spicy rice vermicelli, this bowl offered me a greater kick as I ordered medium spicy this time round and I couldn't even finish it. Pretty good meal for lunch as one would end up sweating feeling full and satisfied!
Recommended to be eaten in twos with the 48 HKD set where it comes with assorted add ons such as sliced pork, minced pork, sliced chicken, beef, fried toufu skin, fishballs, squid balls, bean sprouts, salted vegetables and some vegetables. Soup can look deceivingly plain but filled with goodness!
