You know it is almost impossible to diet when you mum cooks this at 12am... Gotta love those mock abalones!
It was my first time having this ice cream and it was pretty soothing to the minutes. It wasn't too sweet and the taste was remarkably soya. $1.90 for the cup version while $1.60 for the cone version. Colleagues helped me to get greater portions of the ice cream through ingenious ways! 😉
Just right outside of the office was this bowl of mee pok dry, filled with crazy lots of pork lard and noodles with that incredible texture which shows how good the stall uncle was, in cooking them. Sadly, they are having their last day on next Friday and although I only had it for once I am starting to miss this $3 fishball noodles, one of those rare ones that fall into the category, "GOOD AND CHEAP".
Located right beside the legendary sungei road laksa was this new and cool looking Bak Chor Mee stall selling noodles with different add ons. The most basic bowl starts from $3, and it comes with a small serving of scallops which I felt that I rather have more minced pork instead. Chili was okay, mushrooms were really good though! It also comes with a small piece of ngoh hiong and it was pretty average. Noodles were pretty well cooked and overall I would say that it is above average!
Not exactly sure it's shark meat, but the fish meat was pretty tender and thick. Only the last piece had the rubbery texture. Chili was worth a mention but pretty much I won't ever eat it again :/
At $3 it comes with a special chili, freshly made fishballs, fish dumplings and some slices of fishcakes. Pretty much like that they included the flat fish too!
Photos don't do this porridge justice as not only it is worth my money but also freaking delicious. First, their fried shallots and pork lard were so good. Second, their minced pork were well marinated. $2.50 can get you the most basic bowl of the choice of meat of either fish, chicken or pork. I ordered mine at $3.50 with extra fish slice and eggs and it came with fried doughs and it was totally worth the wait!
$3 Mee kia soup for breakfast. Meatballs were delicious and along with the spongy noodles and some chili padi, it was enough to wake me up for some proper work. Soup was even more delicious than those of bedok 85!
My neighbor in hall recommended this dish and the set meal is really quite worth it. At $15.90, (before GST and other charges). It comes with 6 gyoza, 1 tamago soup, 1 tenshin han with pork cartilages(nankotsu). The cartilages were extremely tasty to me(personal opinion) and the egg omelette along with the rice and special sauce made the dish quite palatable! Highly recommended to those who are bored of eating the usual Japanese fare!
Had to run an errand near geylang and was terribly hungry, went for the nearest Bak chor mee and found this above average stall. The stall owners were Malaysian and the noodles came with both chili and tomato sauce. It tasted weird at the first taste but I soon found a liking to it. Pretty light hearted meal at $4. I guessed inflation has pretty much caught up with food prices when the cheapest fishball noodles you can find these days are at $3...
I was almost tricked into thinking that it was an oyster salad 😂. But those mushrooms were delicately prepared and cooked to the extent that each slice of it was full of flavors!
The king prawns' limelight was stolen by the accompanying vermicelli that was underneath it. That white peppery taste resembles those of crab bee hoon and it was insanely addictive!
