Ginger milk tea had a sharp note and spice, with an earthy aroma of deep, intense tea.
Mysore Mutton Biryani ($12.50+)
Fragrant, fluffy basmati rice infused with aromatic spices, paired with a small plate of chewy, tender Mysore mutton. Sides include cool, crunchy cucumber raita to mellow out the spiciness, a tiny bowl of rich chicken curry for you to drizzle on, a hard-boiled egg, and a few small, savoury, crunchy papadum.
Mysore mutton is said to be a South Indian royal dish, originating from the Mysore region of Karnataka, India. It showcases the mastery of spice layering and slow-cooked meat. Prepared in a dry style, the mutton is simmered with a mix of spices until the gravy clings tightly to each piece, remaining slightly moist and tender to the bite. The spiciness is mild, likely adapted to suit local palates, with a texture like rendang, but drier.
Teh Halia ($2.60+)
Ginger milk tea had a sharp note and spice, with an earthy aroma of deep, intense tea.
Food is nice but the service is a bit lacking and can be confusing. I enter the restaurant wondering, is it free seating or will they lead me to my seat? In the end, I just find a random spot to sit tho. Even ordering, I’m clueless: am I going over the counter or informing the server what I want? Because the servers are basically just standing around looking into the void or clearing up the table.

Visiting @endining_sg again to try the shabu-shabu from the All-You-Can-Eat Japanese Buffet!
As you might already know, this buffet offers a wide variety of dishes, especially shabu shabu and niche Okinawan delights rarely seen in other Japanese buffets across Singapore.
Previously, I recommended the Beef Steak, Rafute, Beef Carpaccio, Scallop Mentaiko Yaki, and Ice Cream. But this time? Forget all that. Just focus on the shabu shabu. Order one set of Assorted Shabu Shabu Vegetables and as many plates of Beef Shabu Shabu (100g) as you can eat. You won’t regret it and you’ll definitely cover the cost of the buffet. 😏
The beef is of good quality, with beautiful natural marbling. Just grab the whole plate, dump it into the dashi soup, cook for 7–12 seconds, then plate and eat. No sauces needed, the natural sweetness and meatiness shine through, and the soup essence coats your tongue with juicy flavour. If they offered raw egg, it’d be perfect. I tried the Pork Shabu Shabu too, but the taste was only mid. The vegetables help add sweetness to the savoury soup.
Glad to report the oysters were fresher, juicier, and brinier this time. Scallops didn’t quite hit the mark. Sashimi was fresher than last visit, but Beef Steak declined a little.
Keep track of your orders, they tend to bring wrong items or extras you didn’t ask for. And don’t forget to spam the ice cream after your meal.

Got a large bowl of noodles to fill my belly, but the portion felt no different from the small bowl. Lol. Gone in a few bites. Increasing price, decreasing portion, depressing moments.
The thick, chewy noodles came with minced meat, braised mushroom, veggie, sous vide egg, and of course, the mildly spicy special chilli paste that tied the dish together. Taste-wise, it was a normal savoury profile with a little heat and slight creaminess from the egg. Also felt the chilli portion was kind of little. Comes with a small bowl of soup.

Served in a tall glass but only filled about three-quarters, quite visually underwhelming. Likely made with G7 Instant Coffee, which they also retail. A fuller pour might dilute the taste, but the current presentation could be improved with a better glass to fit the volume of the coffee or just fill it to the brim.
Thick, creamy, and full of papaya flavour.
Slurpy flat noodles with loads of sliced beef, beef balls, herbs, and bean sprouts in a bowl of savoury soup. Quite a huge bowl. It was okay tbh. Nothing amazing, but damn filling. Slices were big and chewy but lacked seasoning, so dipping into the provided sauce helped. Beef balls were small, easy to eat, and absorbed the soup essence well. Bean sprouts were generously given, almost a 1:1 ratio with noodles.
Baguette spread with pâté, cold cuts, pork, and chicken floss. Stuffed with carrot, cucumber, chilli padi, herbs, cilantro, and a spiritual sauce mixture. The bread had a real crispy outer with a soft, fluffy inner, leaving crumbs with each bite. The savouriness from the filling, moderate heat from the chilli, juiciness from the sauce, and crunchiness from the herbs paired nicely, thus making the whole sandwich a delicious piece.
Newly opened Vietnamese food shop, hidden behind Northpoint City, next to the Blk 925 coffeeshop famous for chicken rice. This humble little spot brings you yummy banh mi and pho.

Back here at Swensen's Unlimited to try what I missed last time and check if certain dishes have improved.
Swensen's Unlimited is no stranger to serving up buffet items from Western, Nyonya, Indian, Local, seafood, desserts, and their famous ice cream and gelato with 48 rotating flavours.
Overall, food quality remains average. Some items improved, some declined, and others stayed the same. A few new dishes were genuinely delicious.
The chilled prawn weren’t as fresh as the last time I had them, and the roasted delights still cmi. Their pizza was still great with its cheesy content. Smoked duck carbonara was awesome, flavourful and creamy. Satay was really good: nicely charred, juicy, and tender. Better to eye or camp there as it’s gone quite fast. Local items like the mee goreng were actually good tho.
Time management is key: spend the first 45 minutes on mains, and the last 45 on desserts. With 48 rotating flavours, I got to try more than I did previously.
Queue systems at each station are still confusing. Customers often don’t know where to order or collect food, leading to crowding and blocked walkways.
Dining time is strictly 90 minutes. Lunch is more value-for-money.

I know a good curry when I see one, and this is it. Just look at that thick layer of bright red oil slick and contrasting orange hue. Damn sinfully oily and spicy. Not the usual watery kind, but the thick kind. This lip-smacking gravy comes with a huge piece of slippery smooth, melty fish, crunchy okra, eggplant, herbs, and spice.
It tasted more like those Indian stall fish curries you’d pair with prata, rather than the sourish tamarind-heavy version I had in mind. Seems to be heavy on mustard seeds too.
The heat and spice really make you sweat, and the lingering burn leaves you begging for water. You cry spicy but also say shiok at the same time, guess this is what they call suffering in joy. Lol.
Comes with a bowl of rice. It’s really a good curry the uncle made.
P.S. Stand by for toilet later 🤣

Chanced upon a newly opened gelato shop near D’Arena, just a short walk from Joo Koon MRT. Opened just a few months ago.
Greeted by their cool polar bear mascot display in its drip outfit outside the small shop. Loved their signboard, literally just a polar bear with an ice cream cone hat, lazing belly-down while holding a chill drink. Significantly inviting me over to chill.
They sell acai, gelato, cake, and milk tea. I got myself a waffle and two scoops of ice cream. They don’t offer double or triple scoop pricing, so each scoop is charged individually, which can get pricey but the scoops proved their worth.
I tried the Blue Pea Lemongrass ($5) and Gourmet Yuzu Cream Cheese ($7) flavours and was blown away by the intensity. Big scoop with a frosty outer and creamy inner. Didn’t expect much from the lemongrass since it’s usually subtle elsewhere, but theirs was legit good, aromatic and refreshingly sweet. Yuzu Cream Cheese was well-balanced in zestiness, savouriness, and sweetness. You can feel light yuzu peel bits inside, adding a slight crunch.
Their waffle ($5.50) came in charcoal colour was quite standard. It had a good crust and crunch, and was easy to cut into. The inner was pillowy but not quite fluffy; slightly denser and chewier than usual. Like eating the lesser cousin of min jiang kueh.
Price:
Standard – $5/scoop
Gourmet – $7/scoop
Cone – $1
