All Bout Chicken was feted as one of top 3 fried chicken in Singapore by a food vlogger.
I finally got down to checking them out earlier this year. It was not hard to understand why as the batter is shattering crisp without being brittle and the meat was juicy and tender. This remained the case even though it was sitting in the car for nearly 30 minutes on the ride back home. I also love that their chicken is made to order and served piping hot.
My only complaint is that the chicken needs a little more seasoning. I know there are some who prefer the natural subtly sweet flavours of chicken meat but I am one of those who prefer a well seasoned fried chicken.
Yes, there is quite a wait for their fried chicken but it was definitely worth it. The wait is also made more bearable since the uncle helming the stall is chatty and friendly. So do come down and check out all bout chicken!
No, this ainât the Chicken McSpicy we all know and love, but itâs All Bout Chickenâs very cheekily named spicy Mac and cheese with minced chicken going at $4.90 a serving.
It is surprisingly pale in color, I was definitely expecting something more red and...violent, considering its touting as a spicy Mac and cheese rendition. The crumbly bits adorning the top is the spicy minced chicken. The Mac and cheese itself is surprisingly light. The béchamel sauce slathered upon every elbow of macaroni was not too dense, yet retained more than enough creaminess to satisfy any Mac & cheese aficionado out there.
The minced chicken was unfortunately underwhelming, as it was a bit bland and wasnât really all that spicy despite me ordering the âregular spiceâ after a quick exchange with the chef/stall owner.
Overall, while the Chicken Mac Spicy was passable, it couldâve been a lot better and had a lot more spice and flavor. Better yet, they couldâve smothered it all under a blanket of cheese, pop it into the grill and turn it into a Mac & cheese bake. However, what really saved the entire dish was the most unlikely of things: the garlic bread on the side.
On paper, itâs just some panini with garlic butter on it. However, in reality, the panini was perfectly toasted, and it was more than amply coated with the impossibly garlicky butter. Addictive to the nth degree.
The Chicken Mac Spicy has a long way to go for improvement, but the garlic bread on the side is positively perfect. The whole shebang is best enjoyed with satay and bbq chicken wings from any of the nearby stalls, beer from the drinks stall at the end of the row, and the boys.
We had some of their recommended dishes and thought that they were pretty good.
The Chicken Mack Spicy, an interesting fashion of local and western cuisine results in a Mac and Cheese that is topped with spicy minced chicken. My favourite though, is the RJ Original Pizzawich. A combination between pizza and sandwich, it has spicy minced chicken sitting on a bed of egg mayonnaise base topped with cheese, onions and jalapeño. The flavours came together nicely and wasnât too overwhelming, must-try if you find yourself here âĄÌ
Fret not! One of Chomp Chompâs latest entrants, @allboutchicken.co has you covered! They are opened from 12pm - 12am daily. They are also available for food delivery too. We had some of their signature dishes and thought you should try too!
My favourite was the Pizzawich; which is a combination of pizza and sandwich. We had the RJ Original ($4.90) which features an egg mayonnaise base with spicy chicken bits on it topped with cheese.
Two's a company ($7.20); which is their version of 2 pieces Fried Chicken Meal accompanied with 2 sides. I notice that the chicken was fried upon order, and it's less oily as compared to a particular fast food brand.
The Chicken Mack Spicy ($4.90) is an interesting twist, fusing local with western cuisine and ending up with a Mac and Cheese that is topped with spicy minced chicken!
Thanks @allboutchicken.co for the dinner! đ
đ And the best part is that the chicken meat was so tender they literally slid off the bones! Now.. thatâs what I call a well-cooked fried chicken!! đ đ
â
đ I also tried their RJ Original Pizzawich ($4.90) which came with a side (I had coleslaw which was delicious with the added pineapples đ). Itâs supposed to resemble Roti John with ingredients like egg mayo đł, onions, jalepeno, minced chicken đ and mozarella đ§ but I thought that it tasted a bit more like our usual egg mayo sandwiches đ„Ș A little bit of that stretchy mozarella cheese and more seasoning should do the trick tho đ€
â
đź Besides fried chicken and pizzawich, the stall also sells Mac & Cheese đ§ and wraps đŻ!
â
đ„ Thank you @allboutchicken.co for letting me try two of your creations and if Iâm in the area Iâd be back for the chicken! đ
