Bai Nian keeps things simple with thin bee hoon as the only noodle option, served with a fixed set of ingredients like beancurd, bitter gourd, pork paste, prawn paste and their signature gold, black and white rolls. The black roll is pork paste wrapped in beancurd skin, the white roll is fish paste in beancurd skin, while the gold combines both pork and fish paste. The soup is light and clean with distinct notes of soybeans and anchovies.

So good.
Orh luak/orh jian definitely has to be one of my guiltiest hawker indulgences. Fluffy scrambled eggs are mixed with gooey and occasionally crispy tapioca starch, and plump oysters all fried together and bonded together via a tangy chili sauce. What’s not to love?⠀

This picture, from a stall named Tanglin in Bedok Interchange Hawker Centre, isn’t the best orh luak I’ve had, but it’s certainly the eggiest. Lots of egg, some starchy bits, and a good helping of fresh, fat oysters are fried together and manage to avoid the pitfall of being grossly greasy. The chili is mad decent too, with a fiery spicy kick and a powerful sourness to zip right through the richness of everything on the plate.
Situated at the front of the hawker centre facing the main road, you will find this super red signage will lots of curry dishes on it.
Xin Kee Signature Curry House is where you could grab some good curry rice. Must try their crispy chicken cutlet curry rice, which comes with slices of super crispy chicken cutlet. The curry is spicy but not too much.
HIDDEN GEM that specialises in soup. (~S$4.00)
Stall Name: 湯师傅瓦缸养生滋补炖汤
This is absolutely perfect for elderly and babies. Light on the stomach and soft, chewable pork meat. This is exactly what I need after a hangover to cleanse my mind and stomach. Their soup is boiled for hours and placed in an enormous Chinese pot. The lean meat is tender, moist and succulent. Even the bones of the meat melt when you chew! A healthy and organic herbal tonic soup! Extremely underrated and shadowed by the more popular stalls in the Bedok Hawker Centre. This is a great alternative to porridge when you are sick.
