The other dishes we tried didn't impress us. The stewed chicken in 3 cups sauce (ä¸æ¯é¸Ą), chilli oil wanton (įēĸæ˛šææ) and xiao long bao were simply decent. The only dim sum item that stood out was the đđŽđŦđĄđĢđ¨đ¨đĻ đđĄđđĢ đđĸđđ° đđđ¨. The bao, designed like a giant mushroom, was soft and fluffy, while the char siew fillings tasted excellent. (Swipe to the end for some bao breaking action.)
East Bistro deserves a return visit, especially for its highly-raved pao fan.
Another superlative dish was the đđ°đđđ đđ§đ đđ¨đŽđĢ đđ¨đĢđ¤ đđ§ đđđ. Crispy on the outside, soft in the inside, and simultaneously hot and cold, this dish is pure genius. I found it a tad too sweet, but kids will definitely love it.
Had a wonderful meal at East Bistro. Their signature item was the pao fan æŗĄéĨ (simmered rice). We ordered the đđĢđĸđŦđŠđ˛ đđĸđđ đ°đĸđđĄ đđĢđđ ččščįąŗæŗĄéĨ and it was definitely the star of the meal. After it was brought to our table, the waitress poured fried rice crisps into the soup, resulting in a crackling sound like mini fireworks.
The crab was huge and fleshy, its meat firm and succulent. There was enough rice to fill 12 small bowls, and it was really too much for the 4 of us. The soup was marvellously mouth-watering and we lapped up every single drop of it.
Even though the dish was only $8++, which was fairly decent for a restaurant, it was rather underwhelming. The soup was just not as flavourful compared to that sold at places such as King of Pao Fan. Perhaps it might be worthwhile trying out their more expensive pao fan dishes (e.g., the crab pao fan), as the lack of seafood in the dish we ordered may have contributed to the lack of flavour in the broth. Otherwise you could always stick to their dim sum, which we heard is decent too!
The ingredients were generous but abit small for my liking. Good stuff though, due to the bright mango flavour which hits you immediately
It's called jelly but it's closer to mochi. I loved the jujube and coconut taste, but my brother found it abit weird. Still recommend tho, esp since it's warm
