Rendang Deep-fried Flower Bun This must be their innovation. It comes in fours. It's okay lor. The bun and the sauce tasted per expectations. I don't think it's some brilliant combination.

Sambal Stingray Sambal stingray here is very good. Generous about of onions and sambal. Stingray is fresh and the meat was so smooth and easily scrap off the bone. And the top skin was grilled almost to a crisp. They serve sambal stingray for lunch too!!!

Chicken Rendang + Otah Chicken was tender. Generous amount of Rendang Sauce. Sauce had an evident lemongrass taste to it. The Otah was very good, must add on. Serves Sambal Seafood as well, will definitely return to try that for sure soon.

Steamed Pork with Shrimp Paste 虾酱蒸三层肉 Canton Delicacies always never fails to dissappoint. Returned again, this time tried their steam pork. The boneless Meat was so tender and so flavourful. Their gravy was damn shiok as well. The meat tasted like it was bathed in the gravy for days, flavours so infused into the meat.

Claypot Curry Fish Head ($24/$28) Fresh Fish Alert. Meat was so white and soft, I thought i was eating steamed crab. Canton Delicacies certainly a popular store here at GBM. Saw a few tables with claypot curry fish head, or with their distinctive steel plates. Happy returning customer here.

Steamed Delights Value for money Cantonese-style steamed dishes in a hawker centre. Fresh prawns are butterflied and steamed on a bed of glass noodles in HK-style sauce of Shaoxing wine, light soy and minced garlic, topped with fried garlic and coriander. I like to leave the vermicelli till the last to let it soak up the sauce for more flavour. The sliced fish steamed egg was a dish I noticed many people order while waiting in the queue. The custard turned out silky smooth and the fish slices were fresh. I was also recommended the salted egg pork patties steamed rice to go along with my order. It came with a juicy and tender 80:20 meat-to-fat ratio pork patty, salted egg and leafy greens on a bed of fluffy rice drizzled with dark soya sauce. Simple and flavourful. Fried Mixed Carrot Cake Hua Ji Carrot Cake's Fried Carrot Cake is a delight! 鸳鸯菜头粿 The visually appealing black and white combo - sweet black sauce coated on every bits and pieces and savoury white which had good layer of beaten eggs coated the carrot cake, creating a contrast that will leave you craving more.

Carrot Cake Geylang Bahru has 2 stalls selling Carrot cakes, and both of which are rather good. Small portion is just right as a top up if u still feel hungry after a meal. It taste good and there's a small $3 portion to order from. Will definitely return to have more again. 👍👍 Rating: 4.5/5

Mixed Carrot Cake Why choose one when you can have the best of both worlds🌗? The Mixed Carrot Cake ($5) from Hua Ji Carrot Cake (华记菜头糕) at Geylang Bahru Market & Food Centre (#01-52) consists of both black and white carrot cake. The white carrot cake is soft, thoroughly coated in egg and fried till fragrant. The black carrot cake is a tad sweet for me, but nonetheless still tasty. Not bad!

Cheap and Good! $3.50 for 2 Veg 1 Meat + curry is really delicious! Whole dish tasted reealllly fresh! Highly recommend the pork cutlet. EXtremely crispy yet juicy and tender. Unlike most fried meat you get outside, the pork cutlet had more meat than flour! ~~85% meat. Auntie was very generous with the portion of meat too! YUM

Curry Rice Begins With Curry Pork chop, lion's head, otah, cabbage. The curry used here is so rich it puts many curry rice stalls to shame. Also worth mentioning is the addictive chilli sauce. The other ingredients were okay lah.

Png Kueh & Jiu Cai Kueh The png kueh was good and it is one of the best I have tasted. The skin was very chewy and not like the usual harden skins you’d see at other stalls. Though the skin’s texture was good, if the skin were to be less thick, it would be perfect.⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣ Jiu cai kueh on the other hand was not to my liking. The skin’s texture was good too but the filling was not to my liking and it was really salty too. ⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Also tried the ang ku kueh, the skin again was really soft and chewy, skin to filling ratio is acceptable but the filling was filled with too much sugar in my opinion. ⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣ Would definitely eat the png kueh again and would prolly try the soon kueh next time! Paid $3 for all of the above~ ⁣⁣⁣⁣

叉烧炸云吞面 Char Siew Fried Wanton Noodle

Mala Xiang Guo 麻辣香锅 It’s been a while since I tried Mala Xiang Guo from a new place (have been eating from the same few places😛) and the Mala Xiang Guo ($23 for 4 pax) from驰名麻辣香锅 at Geylang Bahru Market & Food Centre (#01-05) turns out to be pretty tasty and affordable! It comes with all the usual ingredients for you to mix and match, and the 小辣 version is just nice for me. It is flavourful and savoury, and saucy enough to coat all the ingredients and go well with rice. The dinner queue on Sunday is really long though (and a little messy as they do not have a buzzer system) - so be prepared to wait during peak periods.

White+Black Carrot Cake@$5.50 Surprisingly good. The White carrot cake had a certain crisp to it. The Black was sweet and flavourful. Black is better. Good Secondary dish to have if your lunch not filling.

Black Carrot Cake from Heng Ong Huat, a stall at Geylang Bahru Food Centre. The edges of the radish cake cubes possessed an incisively crisp exterior, whilst elsewhere the portion of egg was happily generous and the chilli a shrimp-fuelled spitfire. 3.8/5
