We got the avocado and lychee martini ($3.80 per scoop), quirky flavours that silently shouted to us. Soft and creamy, the avocado ice cream boasted a texture so rich it could easily have been mistaken for a scoop of blended avocado! Their lychee martini had a strong nose of lychee and peppered with many lychee bits but had a little too much tang and was weak on the martini. Would definitely recommend this for the avocado 🥑, stay “healthy” while you’re eating ice cream! 😏

The crust here is extra thick and puffy, made with fibre-rich black rice dough and stuffed, listen out, STUFFED with cream cheese mousse, then layered with double mozzarella cheese and string cheese before topping with all the goodness like chicken chunks, roasted onion, tomato, and mushroom. Calorie-rich but 100% shiok.

Wasn't sure if we wanted to queue for the overhyped International Changi Nasi Lemak (made up of mainly chinese joining the queue😅), so decided to get our fix from Sri Sujana Nasi Lemak. We've tried this a couple times before as the queue for the other stall was just madly long! We love this for the fluffy jasmine rice, and fragrance from the pandan leaves. The golden chicken wings are a must try - super crispy on the outside and juicy inside. The star, for us, has to be the sambal chilli, although slightly sweet, they are nicely spicy and fragrant, and the owners don't scrimp if you ask for more. You can sprinkle batter bits on the rice for an extra crunch, a box of it is placed alongside the condiments area.
.
Otah can be added for an additional $1, they are stuffed with mackerel filling and addictively spicy. Total damage for this dish: $4.50

But when we do, Ah Heng Curry Chicken Bee Hoon Mee is top of mind, almost instinctive for us to zip towards. For a contrasting texture, we always ordered a small bowl ($4.50) with a mix of bee hoon and mee for the contrasting texture. Topped with chunks of fragrant and tender steamed chicken, potato, soaked tau pok (OMG this is the bomb), and fishcake slices, the curry gravy is coconut-ty and sinfully oily, but not heavy oily if y’get what I mean. It has the right balance of spiciness and milkiness from coconut milk that makes this local dish packs# a lot of punch in a bowl.

Lucky enough to get our hands on McDonald's new Chocolate Pie ($1.40) on our first visit. Loving the warm custard-like dark chocolate filling, which didn't turn out to be too sweet either. Feels just as shiok as having a molten lava cake. What a steal!!

Featuring our current favourite stall at Sengkang Square. We picked about 7 types of veg and went with 中辣 spice level. Who needs meat when veg is already so delicious. Bill came up to $13 for 2 pax (AFTER Kopitiam 5% off).

Somewhat a classic of the previous generation, the simple 五香 mix is reminiscent of our childhood. With a huge variety of delicious items, it’s hard to go wrong.
.
Their signature ngoh hiang meat rolls mixed with Teochew style mashed yam is a definite star. Our other favourites include the pan-fried radish cake (they are so good but finishes so fast!), deep-fried tau kwa (crispy outside, silky inside), 五香灌肠/pork sausages, tender braised cuttlefish, and of course the crispy, airy prawn fritters (Jo's mum calls it beehive, we couldn't agree more!) and century eggs with sweet pickled ginger slices.
.
Especially unique is their dipping sauce, tangy and spicy with pickled cabbage and a hint of sweetness! Our total damage came up to $12, definitely great for sharing!

Choosing to go with a thicker version of the common mee kia, this simple hawker fare is topped with braised mushrooms, wanton, herh keow, and a stuffed meatball with a generous filling of minced pork (swipe for the pic!).
.
The noodles are cooked slightly softer than the usual, and tossed in sambal chili, pork oil and sauces. Worth a visit for the old school vibes and the awesome food! Noodles must be eaten hot, they absorb the sauces fast!

Tom’s palette never fails to surprise us with their innovative new flavours, this time with Kumquat Pistachio! Nutty with a good crunch, injected with strong tangerine notes, this is a CNY limited edition product up till the season is over!
.
Best thing about Tom’s Palette, you can order a half and half - so two flavours in one even for the small cup option ($4/$5)! We picked our favourites, Doug with his Rum and Raisin and Jo with her Parmesan Cheese Cream Crackers!
.
The generous plump raisins were well soaked in rum, bursting with bitter alcoholic fragrance at every bite! For every rum and raisin lover, this will definitely make the cut! The cheese was good too, slightly salty and peppered with many chunky bits!

We had their 四川担担面 ($4.50), handmade pulled flour noodles with spicy stewed meat sauce. There is the wet or dry option, but we prefer the dry noodles, so if you’re looking for it you’ve to let them know your preference in advance, the default is soup noodles, which can be slightly diluted with the addition of a soup base.
.
The fresh taste of sweet lettuce with a slight heat from the chili mixed in light sesame sauce and ground peanuts makes this a go-to staple for many here!
.
红油抄手 ($4.80), pork wantons tossed in chili oil. This is your typical “side dish” to make the meal complete! Fragrant dried chillies float in the chili oil, sweet with a good heat. Adding to that mild sweetness is preserved radish, for that extra crunch!
.
Filling, fulfilling, and a hearty taste of Sichuan cuisine, this is a definite visit if you’re feeling like a taste of China!
