[MULTIPLE OUTLETS, SINGAPORE] I've been a fan of @sinpopobrand bakes for a long time, but my biggest gripe for most of their cakes is that it's too sweet to me. Their Pulut Hitam Cake đ ($29) however, is an exception. This cake definitely gets the biggest compliment an Asian can give: it's not too sweet.
I've been wanting to try this flavour for some time and I'm glad I did. The sponge is soft and moist, and it complements perfectly with the coconut cream that is so aromatic. You can tell the cream is freshly made! The cake is topped with Pulut Hitam paste which gives you the classic nutty rice flavour.
All 7 members of my family, young and old, loved the cake. Definitely a cake that will stand the test of time. At their current price point of $29, I really think it's a steal. Will be ordering this flavour next time đ

[CLARKE QUAY, SINGAPORE] If you want a great time with friends and don't mind spending abit more, @hanjip.sg is honestly a really good option. Think Korean BBQ with solid meats at the perfect doneness and other delicious dishes to enjoy as well!
They have launched a new menu with stews like Spicy Pollock Roe Stew đ˛ ($28) that might seem intimidating, but turn out to be incredibly rich. Their classics like the Seafood Pancake đ ($25) and Stir Fried Chicken with Cheese đ§ ($35) are still consistently good as crowd pleasers.
They have refreshed their meat menu as well with new Wagyu options, but their USDA Prime Cuts that I've had are really amazing with its tender and juicy flavours.
Do finish up with their Bingsu Shaved Ice đ§ ($20), and the slight tartness of the mango paired perfectly well with light fluffy milk ice.
They have many ongoing promotions, with free Wagyu Oyster Blade when you reserve via Chope and free A5 Wagyu Ribeye if it's your birthday month. Honestly that's really generous in my opinion đą

[PUNGGOL, SINGAPORE] Heard quite abit about this hokkien mee stall in Punggol and came down to try! Many of the reviews were right, while their hokkien mee is decent, their other dishes like fried rice is better.
The Signature Hokkien Mee đĻ ($6) came quite filled with seafood ingredients, with thick starchy noodles. There was noticeable wok hei, but we felt like the noodles were lacking seafood flavours and some salt đ it's much better after mixing in the chilli, which provided additional heat. I think I enjoyed their pork lard the most, as it was so fresh!! Really crispy and satisfying.
Their Ah Huat Fried Rice đ ($6) is even better. This is a very unique take on fried rice and they used what I believe is char siew sauce. It had the right amount of sweet and savoury flavour, with a touch of wok hei. The melty egg was very well done too! Honestly I will order this again definitely.
Can't wait to try their fried kway teow! And can I just say that the kopitiam is really unique đ it's like within a void deck but also not LOL
[CHINATOWN, SINGAPORE] No joke, I demolished this bowl in 8 mins.
Their Signature Fried Pork Noodle đ ($4.80) was really decent, with a pretty addictive pork cutlet that was most likely marinated with red fermented tofu. Doing that gives it extra umami that penetrates deep into the meat. It was succulent and fatty, and the crust was very light and crispy. Noodles were really decent as well, as it was al dente and seasoned well. It tasted very close to the Malaysian wanton noodles I've had since I was young!
The soup tasted very much like ABC soup, else there's nothing much to mention.
I wouldn't say it's the best noodles I've had, but it's more of the comforting kind. If you are around the area and you want a no-frills kind of lunch, this is a good option! The only gripe I had was that the portion was abit too small, but I guess you can add noodles. Will be back with a bigger bowl next time đ
[BUGIS, SINGAPORE] Gather your kakis or friends or whoever because the stir fry pots at @pangpang.sg are so darn satisfying to share đ
Yes, the crabs in the Signature Crab Pot đĻ ($78) may look small, but they were incredibly fresh. The meat was actually flaky with a bite to it and it's probably the freshest I've had in a long time! Please add on their prawns as well, as they were really snappy and sweet, evidently incredibly fresh as well. You need to order rice with this, as the sauce is perfect with it. It had a nice aromatic savouriness, with a hint of crab umami đ
Another must order dish is their Fried Mochi Fritters đĄ ($8.80), as these come freshly fried with such a satisfying mochi pull. They are not really sweet, so dip hard into the sugary black sesame crumble below. The crunch from the you tiao and chewiness from the mochi is to die for!
They also offer smaller side dishes like Sichuan Spicy Chicken in Red Chilli Oil đ($15.80) and Shrimp Paste Bowl đĻ ($15.80) which were a delight to have as well.
Their service is worth commenting for, as they consistently took care of patrons at every table. Very similar to that from good Chinese restaurants.
Thank you @burpple and @pangpang.sg for the invite đ it was an enjoyable experience đ
[TELOK AYER, SINGAPORE] I'm back again at @amigos.sg for their newly refreshed menu to try some of their dishes and soak in the vibes. While I believe some dishes can be improved, the overall experience was decent.
Let's start with basics with their Fried Barramundi Tacos đŽ ($18 for 2). Now this was a hit, as the fish fingers were still really crispy, with a meaty, flaky fish meat within. Sauces and condiments complemented the main fish ingredient well, with savoury, tangy flavours going on with a slight kick.
If you need something to share, I would pick their Fried Calamari đĻ ($16). Each piece was nicely coated with a slightly crispy batter, and the squid within was fresh, has a bite but not chewy at all. I would imagine this being wolfed down within minutes. Their Loaded Nachos đŊ ($18) unfortunately did not quite deliver, as it was somewhat cold or lukewarm. I was hopefully there was melted cheese as well. Chicken on top did not have much of a taste too!
Their Camaron Quesadillas đŽ ($14) is of an interesting take, with mango salsa taking quite a front lead in providing sweetness. The cheese and grilled snappy prawns within are savoury. This becomes quite a sweet-savoury combo which my partner likes but I would prefer going for their more savoury options. I can imagine this being divided in opinions!
Drinks are of course important in a bar, and their Frozen Raspberry Magherita đ¸ ($15) and Shirley Temple Mocktail đš ($10) delivered. The Magherita itself did not seem strong, but it kicked it later towards the 2nd half of the meal đ Mocktail was really refreshing and I'm glad it was quite a big cup!
In all, food was generally decent, though I wouldn't say really mind blowing. Music was great too. With happy hour promos this can be a place for you to have some quick bites and alcohol to relax right after work!

[TAMPINES, SINGAPORE] I was just wondering why people are talking so much about this cafe, and I had to check it out myself. I honestly didn't think I would be impressed by their savoury items since they mainly do desserts and pastries but BOY I WAS.
Their Grilled Cheese Toastie đ§ ($13) was such a hit. Well buttered sourdough bread sandwiched a generous amount of cheese and the bread was surprisingly not too tough! Many other cafes like to put honey to add another layer of flavour but to me it makes it ever more surfeiting. Puff's rendition uses a homemade tomato dip which works so well, because of the refreshing basil within and the naturally sweet tomatoes used. With this dip you really can have this yourself but I would still recommend sharing đ
You can also DIY your breakfast set, which I got scrambled eggs đĨ($5), tuna mayo đ ($5) and brioche toast đ ($2). The toast itself is fluffy yet crispy on its edges, scrambled was perfectly cooked and the tuna mayo was decently good. Portions were humongous too!
We got their Valrhona Chocolate Brookie đĒ ($4+) as dessert, and it was of such high quality. The chocolate used tasted extravagant, and the cookie itself is crispy and rich. This is one decadent dessert to have đ
@puffsandpeaks, I'm now a fan đ oh P.S. you can use CDC vouchers too!
[WHAMPOA, SINGAPORE] was the first time at Whampoa Market at night and it was lit! Loads of people were feasting away and we did so as well, although the food we got was not as good as expected...
Let's start with the decent stuff first. The Special Fried Oyster đĻĒ ($10) from Whampoa Traditional Fried Oyster was quite decent, with a good amount of egg and starch given. The omelette was fried well, not too oily, and you get some nice crispy bits. Oysters were fresh, and fried separately with some kind of chilli and garlic sauce. To be honest, I think the cheaper traditional fried oyster is good enough and there's probably no need to pay this premium.
Now for the not so good items... Hokkien mee đĻ ($6) from Singapore Fried Hokkien Mee seems to be a popular one and the plate does look promising, but that's about it. I was finding flavour within the dish but it was lacking the seafood and meaty notes. The chilli had to be mixed in for flavour. This was way too starchy as well.
Mama Noodles đ ($8) from Authentic Siam was also disappointing, as the soup was quite heavily watered down. Probably the only saving grace was that quite some seafood was given.
We cycled from the east to Whampoa to try out this hawker HAHA, I guess there's always hits and misses in every food adventure and I would like to share the not so good stuff as well. Are there other stalls I should be trying out? Do let me know! đ
[UPPER THOMSON, SINGAPORE] You know @tiramizus_de_sensare tiramisu is good if you had a bunch of it for lunch, and still had some more after dinner đ
We first had their takeaway only 400g box of Classic Tiramisu đ° ($25) and it was spectacular. It was moist, full of Kahlua liquor and rich from the mascarpone cheese. Surprisingly, it is light enough that you will finish the box in no time. This is really comparable to the ones I've had in Europe! Note that this is available in-store only for walk-in customers.
If you prefer something richer, their Cheesecake Tiramisu đ° ($12) might be for you. This is very dense, with a crispy chocolate layer below that adds another dimension of texture. Rich in cream cheese but not too sweet. Their Pistachio Tiramisu đĨ ($8) was also a big hit, with added nuttiness from the generous pistachio paste.
If you are dining in, I would recommend their Fudgy Brownie with Ice Cream đ¨ ($6.50). After heating up, their brownie was rich, melty and really chocolatey omg. They have savoury items as well, such as their Beef Lasagna đ ($13.90 with ice lemon tea) that you can have before their dessert too!
The shop is located in quite a hidden basement, which makes the atmosphere a little more exciting. I think their Tiramisu is really befitting of the Christmas occasion too, highly recommended to those who would like to impress your family or friends with delicious dessert this festive season! đ

[QUEENSTOWN, SINGAPORE] I feel like most people might know this stall in Alexandra Village Hawker, but I would like to highlight that after having their dumplings for at least 10 years, their quality is still really good.
The must orders are their Chilli Oil Dumplings đĨ and Fried Dumplings đĨ, both at an affordable $8 per plate. Their chilli oil dumplings are quite spice friendly luckily, making it suitable for most to enjoy. If you need an extra kick, they have more chilli sauce available at the side! The dumplings were very slurp worthy, with quite a sizable amount of filling within. The fried dumplings may not be too crispy on the outside, but the filling inside is so generous. It was meaty and honestly really shiok with the sauce from the chilli oil style!
Their noodles are more sub-par actually, but I still got it anyway đ The Dan Dan Mian ($5) had quite alot of minced meat, but the sauce was missing some flavour and noodles were too soft.
Really recommend the dumplings here, you gotta have them as a side while you get mains from other stalls đ
[SOMESET, SINGAPORE] Morinaga Ramen has a clear style, with the old decor, squeezy seating and random shouting of Japanese greetings to complete the Japanese vibes. As much as it transported me back to Japan in tight bar alleys, food quality was just average and we felt like we won't queue for this.
Their food items are quite consistent, as they tasted homely & aren't very salty. We started off with their Stir Fried Shrimp, Egg and Wood Ear Mushroom đĻ ($14 for full portion), which is exactly what you expect. It isn't very flavourful and neither was it bland. Their Karaage or Deep Fried đ ($11 for 4 pieces) was just alright. Meat was relatively tender but the crust wasn't really crispy.
Their ramen should be the star of the show, but that wasn't as good as expected as well. The Kotteri Collagen Ramen đ ($13.80) had a meaty broth, but it tasted quite one-dimensional. Tsukemen đ ($13.80) broth was probably made from sardines and as much as it was promising due to its rich umami flavour, the noodles were abit too overcooked for me.
The food was okay, the kind of fuss free meal you want to have on a regular basis. The queuing time for weekday nights seems to be already an hour, which we really won't go for. Note that dining time is limited to 1 hour and it is mandatory for every diner to get a drink. Looks like I will continue my hunt for authentic Japanese ramen in SG! đ
[TANJONG PAGAR, SINGAPORE] I've been a long time patroniser of this stall, starting from the time I was an intern working around the area đ their quality does seem consistent over the years, offering fish soups that is really quite worth it considering there is little to no queue, as compared to the popular ones upstairs.
Their Fried Fish Soup ($6.50) comes default with milk, and the soup itself is flavourful yet not too salty. The thick rice noodles are perfectly cooked, with a surprising bouncy bite. They are very generous with their veggies, which is a nice touch! Fish slices are thick and meaty, sweet yet succulent.
I think what's special is that they add fried pork lard into this dish, which adds another dimension of flavour. The pieces were really fresh, with a satisfying crunch and explosion of umami flavours that makes you chase it down with soup. With that combination, you will finish the bowl quicker than you expected.
Definitely an option to consider while you're in Amoy Street Food Centre, especially when the recent wet weather calls for it! đ¤Š
