Amazing golden color broth with a distinct umami aroma. Broth is simmered for over 5 hours using prawns, pork, fish and chicken bones. The sweet and rich flavors dances on the palate which actually awakens the appetite. Broth is indeed quite addictive. I had the sliced fish and batang fish bears a nice fresh mouthfeel.

No wonder the staff looked so puzzled. It was Moonlight horfun. I reckoned it was so named because of the raw yellow eggyolk.

Sorry, but I broke the yolk because I see alot of the round eggyolk posts. Here I am playing with it, slowly dripping it over the noodles. First taste of this horfun which kinda reminds me of charkwayteow. Not too bad .. just a tad oily and a hint of the breath of the wok.

I prefer to eat the duck as is because it tasted better without the steamed buns. Pork was alittle tough but the sweet and tangy flavors were balanced. Duck broth rich and aromatic, if only less salt was added. Egg tarts had a hidden surprise. Yuzu oozes out when cut in half. Pastry thin and crumbly. Best to share as it is bigger than the usual ones. This has to be ordered in advance as it is prepared ala minute.

Yok Mari Yok has been in the Marine Parade Central food centre even before the major refurbishment. It is back at the exact same spot.

I have always enjoyed their mee rebus. If memory serves me right, the older version was slightly more peanutty, gravy atad thicker and less spicy. The new improved one is less peanutty, lighter consistency but bears a lingering spicy kick.

It is somewhat like a crossbreed between a mee rebus and a meesiam but without the tangy mouthfeel. Actually, I quite liked it.

A slight new twist to this fiery hot stuff. Garnished with clams instead of cockles. It does not have that strong umaminess of the cockles. Personally I feel laksa and cockles is a perfect unison. Without it, it is like not complete.

Steamed chicken in brand's essence of chicken, the broth was flavorful with a tinge of the smooth essence and garnished with slivers of ginger. Egg with onions fried so flat but yet tender and fluffy. Mixed veges coated with sweet and slightly spicy sambal sauce.

I don't know if anything was added to the white fluffy rice. It was fragrant and had an addictive umaminess. So good, I finished every morsel. My table of plenty became table of empty and "belly" happy.
