Very old school wanton mee in a very old eating house. Most of the patrons here are elderlies of the pioneer generation. On Sunday mornings, a mix of young and old from nearby churches thronged this place for brunch. It is crowded and noisy, sounds of a lively neighborhood.

There are only about 6 stalls here. Food is not super fantastic but good enough to satisfy the hunger pangs. It is a cozy enough place for the residents to chill and meet likeminded people for old fashioned tea and coffee. I must say, the coffee is the kau kau (bitter) type, quite robust and roasty.

I am just thrilled to savor simple and delish hawker fare.

Back to one of my favorite haunts. Bearing an old school taste, a bowl of dry meekia filled with chunky sliced pork, fish dumplings, fishcakes, tiny fishballs and luscious bits of minced pork. Noodles not overcooked but yet had that smooth chewy and slippery mouthfeel. Manned by an elderly couple. This stall is certainly a crowd pleaser as the stream of customers does not seem to stop.

Elderly Aunty slowly with fluid movements prepares bowl by bowl tirelessly. Her dry and wrinkled hands are testament, perhaps due to more than a decade or two of being in this trade. She absolutely has my respect. Some things are just timeless.

Laksa pesto linguine made a unique marriage. Expect an earthy herbie tone and a brief lingering of a subtle laksa heat. The umaminess from the prawns was a sweetilicious welcome on the palate.

If you are not a "herbie" person, go for the hae bee hiam pasta which I heard in the grapevine, was good. On my list to try and perhaps many more others, once I find the company to go with.

@dintaifungsg yusheng is quite light. Comes with smoked salmon for that tinge of a smoky finish. Pomelo pulp, a tangy bite. My favorite component were the crispy yam bits and pine nuts (extra order) for crunch. Radish, carrots and chestnuts too. Tossed in housemade sweet and scintillating plum sauce. I can have this as a meal on its own because it is just so good.

Simple as it looks and probably don't wow you. Steamed chee cheong fun is the soft texture that playfully massages the palate. But I adore the sweet sauce and this particular chilli sauce gives you a "high on spicy heat". Hot, hot, hot, it tingles the tongue.

Soya sauce chicken with smooth gelatonous skin was delightfully pleasing on the palate. Char siew was sweet but alittle tough. What was missing was a bowl of soup for the meal to be complete. (Not provided unfortunately.)
