My partner and I finally got to try this restaurant after hearing many good things about it. We ordered the Charred, Chick & Claypot and the Spaghetti al Granchio to share. The Charred, Chick & Claypot came with a generous portion of deliciously baked chicken, charred rice and expertly crafted chilli and ginger sauce. It also came with the chef's own chicken consumme to pair with the dish! The chicken was well seasoned, the rice crispy, and the chilli and ginger sauce really helped to alleviate the flavour profile of the dish. The rice had a nice ginger fragrant to it, with thin slices of sinful crispy chicken skin scattered within. The Spaghetti al Granchio was delightful. The flavour profile was light and does not get cloy. It came with a huge portion of crab meat was fresh and paired wonderfully with the sauce.
We ended off the dinner with Fried Ice Cream and Banana Cake. The crispy exterior of the batter paired well with the smooth creaminess of the ice cream wrapped within. The banana cake was flavourful and left us wanting more!
This place definitely lived up to our expectations!
Had dinner here with a friend on Tuesday evening. We ordered the burger (which comes with fries), truffle fries, and claypot chicken rice. Highlight of the night was the claypot chicken rice, which came with chilli and a shot of chicken broth separately on the side which was quite unique. I especially liked the crispy scorched rice at the bottom which gave an extra layer of texture. Would recommend.
Ordered the hainanese pork chop, fried squid and duck confit to try and the portions were really generous. The fried dishes was flavourful but not too oily and I throughly enjoyed the duck confit.
The ambience was great for a weeknight and definitely warrants a revisit.
A charming, cosy café perfect for catching up with friends and family. The menu delights with crispy squid tentacles, Hainanese pork chop, and duck confit—each dish served in generous portions and bursting with flavor. A truly satisfying experience from start to finish.
Went to Seng House for dinner recently and tried several dishes - Crispy Squid Tentacles, Hainanese Pork Chop and Barramundi in White Clam Sauce. There was a generous portion of squid, fish was fresh and paired well with flavourful yet light clam sauce.
The café was spacious and cosy, perfect for couples or anyone that is seeking a relaxing meal.
Seng House was a cosy little place for a nice casual dinner date! Ordered the smoked squid and citrus and claypot chicken rice to share with my friend because we weren’t too hungry, but when both of these dishes arrived, our hunger was aroused haha!
Our favourite had to be the smoked squid, because you can really taste the smokiness from the grill but the tangy flavours of the pomelo that were topped on it helped to bring a good balance to the bitter char! This was a solid 8/10 for me and my friend.
The chicken rice came in a claypot and we were told to mix it so the slightly charred crispy bits at the bottom get distributed, and we absolutely loved how fragrant the rice was! Very interesting take on the local chicken rice dish, paired with a solid spicy hainanese chili sauce.
For dessert we had the durian creme brulee, two of my favourites as a sweet treat after dinner. The sugar at the top was slightly bitter but when eaten together with the custard and durian, perfectly evens out the sweetness and making the dessert one that you could just keep on going!
Overall, I loved the chill cosy vibes of the place and interesting food choices offered at Seng House. Only gripe is that it can be a bit out of the way if you don’t have a car, but there are a few buses that brings you to different mrt stations, so just beware of this :)
