The dumplings were alright, but here they're not superior to the wantons. The soup was enjoyable.

The wantons were definitely better than common ones. Don't expect too much from "crab roe". The noodles were also closer to those from legit Hong Kong eateries, but could be better.

Ah… so comforting. A spicy, thick curry served piping hot in a claypot with a huge chicken drumstick, thigh, and a whole potato. The curry had a good ratio of spice base that made it thick and savoury, with curry leaves adding fragrance and chilli padi giving extra heat. The chicken was soft, tender, and easy to debone, while the potato had a firm bite outside but was soft inside.

What stood out was the generous amount of curry sauce, making it easy to pair with rice without worrying about running out. The balance of spice and creaminess gave the dish a homely feel, hearty yet tastisfying. It is one of those bowls that warms you up instantly.

I also recommend trying their assam fish curry, which offers a tangy alternative to the richness of the chicken curry.

Established in June 1983, this stall caters primarily to hungry university students and port workers, the result of which means large and generous portions at affordable wallet-friendly prices, coupled with long operating hours through most of the day and night. The place isn't a culinary bastion, but it is a place for fast, cheap, and good eats.

The sticky and moist white rice carries a mild fragrance of coconut cream, a touch of grainy earthy floral sweet flavour. The achar / Peranakan pickled salad is crunchy and juicy with bright vegetal sour sweet spice flavour, the deep-fried ikan bilis / anchovies is crisp and crunchy with fishy savoury salty flavour, and the fried chicken egg with runny yolk is wobbly and soft with eggy sweet savoury flavour.

The sotong / squid balls are springy bouncy with savoury sweet flavour, the battered crab stick surimi is tender and crisp with mild sweet savoury briny salty flavour, and the battered chicken wing is tender though not as crisp as I'd hoped yet carrying meaty sweet savoury flavour. Their grainy sambal tumis / stir-fried chili paste is mild with sweet savoury salty spice flavour.

Established in 1971 by Madam Nyonya Bte Mohd Shah and registered since February 2005, this stall is amongst the longest-serving brands, a heritage hawker. Today, it's managed by Badrol Hisam Ramli.

The bed of fluffy loose long-grain white rice is steamed with extra virgin coconut oil, imparting a delicate coconutty earthy floral sweet grainy flavour. The juicy cucumber slices carry vegetal sweet flavour, while the crisp crunchy deep-fried ikan bilis / anchovies with roasted peanuts have fishy savoury salty nutty flavour. The fried over easy chicken egg is soft and springy with eggy savoury sweet flavour.

The tender springy breaded fish surimi fillet has sweet savoury flavour, while the deep-fried turmeric marinated chicken breast is crispy outside and tender inside with robust smoky meaty salty savoury spice flavour. Established well before September 2015 and also known as 'Padang Banana Leaf Rice Nasi Lemak', this stall is a familiar fixture in the area, well-frequented at all hours throughout the day and night for its wide variety of dishes.

Their short-grain rice has a unique green colour, infused with more pandan / screwpine leaf essence than coconut milk, resulting in a pleasant grainy floral earthy sweet flavour. The firm crunchy deep-fried ikan bilis / anchovies with roasted peanuts have fishy salty savoury earthy nutty flavour, while the wobbly soft fried chicken egg has eggy savoury sweet flavour. The crunchy achar / Peranakan pickled salad carries a pronounced vegetal sour sweet spice flavour, rather sharp on the palate.

My favourite stall to visit whenever I’m dispatched around this area for work. I’ve had their Assam Fish and Pig Trotter Vinegar before which were both scrumptious. Today, feeling a little chilly, I went for their herbal chicken soup, which turned out quite tasty.

A comforting hot bowl of herby goodness that warms the heart, soul, and belly. Generous portion as always. The soup came with a huge drumstick and thigh, which were easy to debone just by biting, with the soup flavour well absorbed into the meat, making it extra juicy and tender. The skin was smooth with a hint of fattiness for some greasiness. The soup itself was clear yet rich in herbal flavour, with veggies and goji berries adding sweetness. The herbs seemed to be properly filtered away before serving, as I couldn’t find any pieces though I admit I’m probably the odd one who actually craves eating the herbs themselves.

I almost never eat spicy food 🌶️ (my tolerance is… infant level at best 😅), but this hawker stall is the rare exception. Some say it’s the best BBQ sambal stingray in the West — and honestly, I swear by it.

Loaded with onions, slathered in generous sambal — intensely fragrant, seriously spicy, and dangerously addictive. 🔥 The stingray and sotong were super fresh, soft, tender and cooked just right.

Worth every bead of sweat and would gladly come back for more. 🤍
