Crisp and tangy croissant cradling a molten mix of cheese and golden, slow-cooked onions. The sweetness of the onions plays beautifully against the savoury richness and every bite feels like a warm blanket on a cool day.

Chewy, gooey, and packed with dark chocolate. That sprinkle of sea salt makes every bite pop 》$4

Paparch is quite an establishment noted for its burnt cheesecake offerings for quite a while — these folks have been operating as an online-based bakery for quite a while with a brick-and-mortar store in the basement of Citygate that serves as their collection point, though it does seem that these folks are ready for the next phase of expansion into a true blue brick-and-mortar store with retail operations on site. Now situated within a shophouse unit along Arab Street in the Kampong Glam neighbourhood, Paparch takes up a small space that is located quite close to other dining establishments such as BÁNH MÌ KHÔNG? and All Things Delicious.. Still intended as a spot that mainly operates as a takeaway store, the interior is decked in an ultra-modern design language featuring metallic tables in a clean, minimalist and somewhat zen setting. The counter would be the centrepiece here displaying be variety of Mini Square cheesecakes available for the day, arranged neatly for a pretty aesthetic — the use of flora and fauna also makes the space feel less cold and stiff, while patrons intending to dine-in can find a standing table to dine from. Paparch may be perhaps better known for their round Original burnt cheesecakes but they do offer Mini Squares that works well for individuals whom wish to give their burnt cheesecakes a try — these are available in both original flavours and flavoured renditions with the flavours available being rotated around on a daily basis. It is worth noting that Paparch does not serve up any beverages at its Arab Street location.

Amongst the flavours of Mini Squares available on the day of our visit, the Miso Caramel was the one that stood out to us the most. The Miso Caramel Mini Square comes as a filled cheesecake where what seems to be the original burnt cheesecake comes with a miso caramel core that is filled in the middle. Digging into the Miso Caramel Mini Square, we found that the burnt cheesecake does come in a pretty runny texture — something that is actually quite similar to that of what Queic by Olivia serves up for its Olivia’s Signature Cheesecake. This would be a velvety smooth, rich and creamy cheesecake that was very decadent to say the least; we liked how it does carry the tang that one would associate with cheesecakes with a slight hint of vanilla aroma as what burnt cheesecakes often carry — at the back of the tongue would be a slight funky note from a more pungent cheese that is similar to the likes of blue cheese. This was actually quite subtle however; not quite as intense as how it is for the Olivia’s Signature Cheesecake that Queic by Olivia serves up and definitely not that intimidating even for those whom aren’t too accustomed to / fond of stronger tasting cheeses — makes it easy to eat whilst the cheesecake itself also wasn’t overly sweet. The core of the Miso Caramel Mini Square cheesecake comes with a savoury, earthy and somewhat bean-y note; all that with a slight sweetness.

Have been hearing quite a fair bit about Paparch for a good while where many had been raving about their burnt cheesecakes ever since these folks had been operations an online-based bakery — we had been looking forward to give them a try and we are glad that the opening of their brick-and-mortar store at Arab Street has given us the opportunity to do just that. Whilst we had only tried a single offering during our visit to Paparch in the form of the Mini Square cheesecake which is only introduced with the opening of their Arab Street location, we can definitely see ourselves understanding the hype surrounding the brand’s burnt cheesecake — they do rank up pretty close to the Olivia’s Signature Cheesecake offered by Queic by Olivia which is in itself slightly different from the other renditions of Basque Burnt Cheesecake that other establishments tend to offer in both texture and flavours. In comparison between the burnt cheesecake at Paparch and the Olivia’s Signature Cheesecake offered from Queic by Olivia, the burnt cheesecake at Paparch would probably suit those whom do not like the flavours of pungent cheese better — the notes of strong-tasting cheese here being rather mild and not particularly intimidating. The Mini Squares are priced in the range of $8.80 to $9.80, with $8.80 being the price listed for the Original flavour, while $9.80 is the flat price for all the flavoured Mini Squares cheesecakes. Definitely a spot to add to the list to try for those whom are into burnt cheesecakes if one has yet to give Paparch a try!

($7.50) It's rice set meal with fried egg and veg ; they add fish sauce beside. But grilled pork was slightly a bit hard to chew thru.

($7) I saw this on google maps or eatbook? I wanted to try it out for a while but no chance until I went to beach road for matcha latte. It's dry based noodle and they add fish sauce inside noodle. But grilled pork was slightly a bit hard to chew thru and also like spring roll to be crispy and crunchy.

Not too bad but if hot from the oven will be good

Went for the chendol soft serve with just chocolate drizzle (skipped the pandan jelly and coconut). Creamy and gula melaka heavy but got too sweet halfway through.

The usual toppings would’ve helped balance things out and add texture. Portion’s big too and definitely a share-with-a-friend kind of dessert 》$7

Creamy, well-balanced hummus with a nice hit of tahini and spice. Olive oil drizzle adds richness and the cherry tomato + cucumber give it a fresh lift. Flatbread was warm, chewy and perfect for scooping 》$13.90

This felt like a Turkish take on folded and cheesy pizza. Crust had a nice chew with a bit of char and the sesame seeds gave it a subtle crunch. Inside, it was packed with minced chicken and gooey cheese, all warm and savoury without being too heavy. Great for sharing. Messy fingers, happy belly 》$24.90

The rice was fragrant and fluffy with enough spice to keep things interesting but not overpowering. Chicken was slow-grilled and had that nice smoky char, tender, juicy and easy to tear apart.

The grilled chilli and tomato added a bit of heat and tang but the chilli sauce was the real flavour bomb. Spicy, sharp and perfect for mixing into the rice 》$28.90
