Had one of the best herbal soups ever and ordered the tofu as a side dish. The tofu paired wonderfully with the sauce provided, and the chicken in the soup was incredibly tender. The portions are generous too! Highly recommend

Came by for a team lunch and this is aparently a really popular old-school bak kut teh joint among my older colleagues. Really bustling with the weekday office lunch crowd and we were lucky to find an empty table almost immediately, though the food took some time to arrive (~10min). Their rendition of BKT would be up your alley if your preference leaned towards the peppery side - this was one of the most peppery BKT I'd ever tried! The portion of bak kut was generous and I enjoyed the lean version moreso than the fattier (you have the option to top up a small price for the fattier meat). Overall, a satisfying bowl especially on a cold rainy day.

Had a comforting meal with tasty dishes and porridge. We had 3 dishes: sweet and sour pork, pepper beef and salted egg prawns. Personally enjoyed the sweet and sour pork the most and would have liked the salted egg prawns to be a little more crunchy! Overall had an enjoyable dinner and would go back again.

I had a delightful dining experience at Gu Zao Ren, which offers a diverse array of dishes to choose from. Among the selections, I highly recommend the cereal prawns, hot plate tofu, and chai poh omelette, all of which are must-try items at this establishment. The cereal prawns were not only generous in portion but also fresh and cooked to perfection. The hot plate tofu was a standout, blending a variety of ingredients with soft, melt-in-your-mouth tofu. The chai poh omelette, though small in appearance, delivered incredible flavor—crispy on the outside with a soft, creamy interior. Despite its simplicity, the dish was wonderfully satisfying. In terms of service, the staff were friendly, responsive, and efficient, even with a busy crowd. Overall, I highly recommend this spot for larger groups, as their portions are notably more generous than typical zi char places, without compromising on quality.

Home-style dishes that hit the spot. I had the chaipoh omelette, peeled cereal prawns, and hotplate tofu—all full of flavour and done right. The cereal prawns were a standout, crispy and fuss-free.

This was my first experience with turtle soup, and it proved to be an impressive dish. The soup was rich and flavorful, with a distinctive herby taste that set it apart. The turtle meat was tender and cooked to perfection, offering a comforting and satisfying texture. Additionally, the black chicken soup was meticulously prepared, with the chicken so tender it practically melted in the mouth. As a complement to the soups, the handmade tofu and fried prawns were excellent side dishes that paired beautifully with the main offerings.

Lastly would like to mention the staff service was exceptional—prompt, attentive, and knowledgeable, providing insightful recommendations and making the dining experience even more enjoyable.

Tried this well-known herbal soup restaurant and it met expectations. Claypot turtle soup and black chicken soup had strong herbal flavor, with tender meat. Homemade prawn roll and jade tofu were good additions to the meal. Worth a visit if you're looking for a nutritious soup and hearty meals!

I tried their White chicken soup, tofu and the omelette. It was good and a comforting meal. The soup was super flavourful and chicken falls off the bone, definitely comfort food especially if it is raining or ure feeling sick.

I tried the Fish Maw & Abalone soup, Omelette and Dish Jade Tofu! I was impressed by how the soup tasted very nourishing. The fish maw and abalone used were both very fresh and tender! Omelette came with the preserved radish (it is often eaten with chwee kueh) which surprisingly was a great combination. Will be back to try the other soup!

This is almost the same thing as the spicy chicken at their kway chap brand. Very deep and fragrant. A lot of effort.

Aka dragon rib. I've eaten enough bak kut teh to know not to order the basic ribs. But disappointingly, parts of this dragon rib weren't tender. Still big though.
