Simple and good. Slightly pickled. I wish the tofu was cut smaller.

Decent twice-cooked pork, awful noodles. They're soggy and bland. Identity crisis because it's neither la mian nor rice noodle. This spoilt the dinner.

For an appetiser this was too big. As expected it's slightly pickled. It's also harder than typical spinach in Singapore.

We've met so many mediocre ones we're surprised this was good. But it's the sweet kind, not the savoury and spicy kind.

Established in the 1950s and later incorporated in January 1993, this chain of stalls is known for making their dishes from scratch daily. The brand is family owned, run by brothers Ramanan Subramaniam and Ravindran Subramaniam, sister Thenmozhi Subramaniam.
.
Famed for their rendition, which has a crispy light crunchy pan-fried dough which shatters beautifully when bit. Folded and layered with wispy chicken egg, crisp red onion, bouncy button mushrooms, and gooey cheddar cheese, along with a choice of spiced meat or fish.
.
The most popular are tender turmeric spiced minced mutton, chewy shredded chicken, or soft sardine fish. Carries smoky bready meaty eggy vegetal salty savoury spice earthy tangy zesty sour cheesy flavour.
.
They also offer unique renditions, including a vegetarian option with cabbage.

香辣虾意大利面 Spicy Prawn Spaghetti (S$8.50)

Braised Lamb Shank 卤羊小腿 (S$25)
Served with mashed potatoes 土豆泥 and vegetables.
The lamb shank was fork tender. There was no gamey taste.

BBQ Pork Ribs 炸排骨 (S$14)
Served with 2 sides which selected Sweet Corn 玉米粒 and Garden Salad 蔬菜沙拉.
The pork rib was so very tender that the bones can be pulled out easily. Meat was very flavourful too.

Fried Chicken Wing 炸鸡翅
Very old school taste.

[Ang Mo Kio, Singapore 🇸🇬]

This stall originally was the western food stall in Science Park I food court. After COVID, it expanded to another stall in Ubi. Recently the owner opened this new stall in Ang Mo Kio after closing the other 2 outlets. Besides its well known western food, it also offered Fried Hokkien Mee.

炸福建面 Fried Hokkien Mee (S$10)
Lots of crispy pork lards! Wet version. Very flavourful!

Opened nearly 5 decades ago by Aw Teck Chwee, this stall commands brisk business as the owner hand-fries each plate to order.
.
The soft wide flat rice noodles and chewy long cylindrical yellow wheat noodles are tossed with dark soy sauce, white sugar, chewy lup cheong / dried cured pork sausage, bouncy fish cake, crunchy bean sprouts, gooey beaten chicken egg, juicy blood cockles, and crucially, crisp pork lard that is freshly fried daily.
.
The plate is a tad greasy, tending towards the wetter version, and carries robust smoky savoury salty sweet flavours.
