[ORCHARD, SINGAPORE] @namnamnoodlebar has always been quite a staple for Vietnamese food in the town area, and I'm glad to announce that they have come up with new dishes to feed the crowd 😍

The Beef Steak & Eggs 🥩 ($15.90) is a Vietnamese rendition of the western dish, and I must say I prefer this more. There's nothing like crispy fluffy banh mi, dipped in egg yolk and a savoury braise sauce, paired with tender slices of beef. This was very comforting, with loads of flavour coming from the mushrooms and onions!

For a more "green" option, the Lemongrass-Chilli Shaking Chicken Vermicelli 🥗 ($15.90) may be a dish people would go for, and I can understand why! You can control the salt levels with the amount of sauce you put, and this has loads of fresh flavours to make you want more. Chicken cubes were tender too!

There is a new salad addition too; the Rice Paper Salad 🥗 ($14.50) is very interesting, as it's raw rice paper with vegetables and cuttlefish! Unfortunately, this is not something I might go for, as it was quite tough & chewy 😂 a beer bite for some people maybe?

As for drinks, the new Golden Zest Cold Brew ($7.50) was really refreshing! I like how the orange juice and coffee complemented well, with some sweetness coming from the honey cream too.

This is a good option for work or no-frills lunch if you are nearby! 😋 Thank you @namnamnoodlebar for the invite!

[BENCOOLEN, SINGAPORE] UMMM... I don't remember banh mis being this filled 😂 the rendition at @misssaigonsg is indeed on another level, as their banh mis are not only huge, they are stuffed and full of flavour!

The Grilled Pork Banh Mi ($8.90) features 2 HUGE grilled pork patties that were not only meaty, but really flavourful as well. Underneath the pork patties is a bed of vegetables, sauces and pate that elevated the whole banh mi and added extra textures!

The Roasted Pork Banh Mi ($9.90) features similar vegetables and sauces, but also many THICC slices of roast pork that were so tender and succulent, and the skin was actually crispy too! I think there's at least 5 plates worth of roast pork from shao la stall in this bread LOL

Oh, how can I not talk about the bread! It was toasted upon ordering, making it hot and incredibly crispy and fluffy. It's gonna be a mess trying to eat the banh mi here 😂

You really need to come here and see the size for yourself. It's amazing how much ingredients they gave at such prices. No regrets, but chances are you might need to skip dinner if you are having lunch here 👀

A lighter variety I tried. If not too craving for meat, this is a great choice. The use of fried eggs with the usual garnish made for a delicious eat.

($15.30) included salad + drink on weekdays lunch set. It's a been while never eat their pho. But I felt that their pho was quite smooth and chewy texture. So the soup broth still ok but v salty till the end of the meal. but i like their salad tbh very appetited.

Wanted to take a risk and try something different
But was not a big fan
Beef was fatty — bread was too soft and stale
Sauce was very normal too
Had better banh mis

But this place offers a good price point with the one for one.

Ordered the chicken pho to try
We also ordered the beef combination pho
Both broths are not too different

The restaurant (inside) is rather warm though

($8.50) i finally tried funan's bahn mi after my friend asked me out for takeaway. I felt that the bread was quite crispy and crunchy texture. But its serving portion for bahn mi was quite average tbh.

I think it's bun cha? The meatcakes were rich but salty. Nice noodles but the tau gey and veg were very raw.

One of more authentic and better Vietnamese restaurants in Singapore, with a long and diverse menu, ranging from family-style dishes, to bar food (eg. 10 different kinds of snails or other shell seafood), to street food, to the classical dishes well known to tourists (like phở, banh mì, spring rolls, etc). Reasonable pricing too.
